looking for italian church art.

religious-art-filter: looking for a specific image of Christ rising from the grave. I saw it on a TV program and I'd like to see it again. From what I remember, it was like a "forgotten artwork" kind of program, and they visited a small Italian church to see it.

The artwork was in the format of a painting, except 3D. So it wasn't a statue, but like a rectangular 3D sculpture on the wall. It was in a white stone- maybe marble.

The subject was Jesus rising from the grave- not the standard shiny-light-everywhere walking out, but an earthy, muscular, kind of beat up Jesus climbing out, giving the viewer a piercing glare. I think his hair was kind of snaky. I don't recall angels.

The artist wasn't a really famous on like Michelangelo or Da Vinci, I don't think.

The program talked about the techniques the artist would have used, maybe the discovery of a prototype image (??) and a bit about their artistic life. While I would love to watch the program again, the art work is what I really want to see.

TV program: Australia, 2007(2006?) most probably over the Easter period, maybe ABC or SBS.

Art work: Italian church, renaissance (?) Does it exist on the internet? Google is failing me.

Thank you.

A church may be missing its altar

I have a big slab of marble, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. A friend gave me this when she moved across the country and her husband refused to take it. Now my husband has banished it from his sight. I used it for a coffee table top for years. To him, it's very ugly - I disagree. Admittedly, it's very heavy. Should I take it into the cellar where it will stay forever, give it away, sell it? And no, don't suggest using it as my husband's tombstone - yes, that sounds like two birds, one stone, but .....

How to get a toilet bowl cleaner stain off a marble counter?

I left a new bottle of toilet bowl cleaner on the bathroom counter while unpacking groceries. It leaked, and I didn't notice until the next day. Now there's a rough white stain on the counter (marble) that won't come off. Any ideas on how to remove it?

I want to make dark stains on my marble bathroom counter!

What can I use to intentionally stain a dark cultured marble countertop? I have seen plenty of advice on how to clean stains from marble countertops. Well, what if I'd rather just stain it a little bit more? I have a mediocre house, several kids, and soap stains, or lightened areas, on the soap shelves of my sinks. Why did they make soap shelves on marble sinks anyway? This is like doctors that give out lollipops. I put out soap dishes, but the soap ends up there anyway.

So what stains marble? And what color is the stain? You guys are so great!

Please help me make the Grecian Marble cocktail.

The mysterious Grecian Marble cocktail... My lovely and talented girlfriend has had a cocktail in the past that she says was called a Grecian Marble.

What she can remember of it suggests the ingredient list included both creme de menthe and creme de cocoa, ouzo, ice cream and possibly other ingredients.

I have been Googling like a madman to no avail, and none of my mixology guide seem to show anything.

As the ingredients seem a little expensive for experimentation, I was hoping the infinitely refined MeFi's out there might have a recipe.

(Grrrrrrr... Damn girlie drin...OH! HI SWEETHEART!)

What was this transforming marble?

While at Target this evening, I was shopping for a birthday present for a nephew, there were two 10/11 year olds talking about and trading these marble like toys. When they set them down, they "transformed" into something else, there parents were apparently there to buy them but Target was sold out. I heard them talking but was busy with my own kids and forgot to check out the aisle or talk to the people. I'm usually pretty in touch with toys and such, but I have no idea what these were. Any one know?

Glass marble magnet supplies in Toronto

I want to make glass marble magnets. Where can I find supplies in downtown Toronto? I need:

- round strong magnets (1/2" and 3/4");
- clear flat glass marbles (1/2" and 3/4");
- silicon sealer (glue).

I know to look for the glass marbles in the "fake flowers section" at Michael's, but the nearest Michael's is in Mississauga and that's too far. I need something downtown. Maybe the bead stores along Queen West? Hardware stores? Curry's?

marble rocks in a fireplace?

Can you put garden marble rocks in a fireplace? I have some white and gray marble rocks that I had purchased in the garden section of my local home improvement store. They were in my flower beds, but now I am eyeing them to spruce up my drab dusty fireplace. I was thinking of lining the bottom of the fireplace with them below the grate and then loading it with kindling until it gets cold enough for a fire. This is for visual effect only, however I was wondering if I could actually leave it like that for the first fire. Is marble heat safe? I want to be sure they won't explode or anything. I would probably scoop them out and ditch them with the ashes, but they would look pretty until then.

Marred Marble?! Help!

Marble Countertop Help! It seems that the finish/sealant/coating has bubbled or otherwise created a white spot on the black marble countertop in our house. What would've caused this? How can we fix it? The countertop is man-made black marble, and there's now a white spot on the top marring the perfect marble-ness.

Why is my marble staining?

Help! My new house seems to have marble in it that stains. What can I do? Just bought a great house. The previous owner had fixed it up and flipped it. And he seemed to like marble. There are marble tiles (1' square) in the entryway and in the kitchen that stain when touched by water. The staining goes away once they're dry but WTF?
Might this not be marble?
Is there any way to seal this?
What if I spill red wine on the floor?(a distinct possibility where I'm concerned)
The stuff that's in the bathrooms doesn't have this problem, but it's quite noticeable in the entryway and inexplicably, on the kitchen floor.

How do I remove rust stains from marble tile?

I need an effective (and safe) way to remove rust stains from marble tile. Scenario: Marble-tiled shower stall in a home in the country. Home is on well water. Well water in this area is really rusty. Marble is rust stained.

Most of the stain can be romoved with some simple elbow grease. However, there remains some pretty stubborn areas. The usual rust-removal chemicals (Rust-Out, CLR, etc) all specifically state not to use them on marble.

Any help from you home-improvement gurus will be greatly appreciated.
