Hoping you can share some ideas or things you have observed companies do to energize and excite their organizations. Please note that ideas that work for young organizations like google may not work for me since I am trying to do this in a very traditional, large and old (over 100 years in business) organization. One idea that comes to mind is hiring relatively younger employees for senior management positions. Perhaps having more team outings might help as well. I would welcome any suggestions. I have a wonderful (Oracle) SQL database and I use Navicat Lite to crunch around in it. My problem is that I'm staring at lists of 50+ tables, 60+ saved queries, 10+ views, etc. Is there anything I can do to somehow organise things in a visually pleasing and/or functional way? [more inside]

I currently just finished my second year of college. As a electrical engineering major I find that I sometimes go back to look at course notes and material from past semesters. Thus, I have a lot of paper and not a whole lot of room to put it. Currently each class I have taken is in its own manilla folder and in a file caddy I have. This is less than ideal as most classes don't really fit in a single folder yet I do it anyway so I can keep track of them. I am looking for a creative and space saving way to store them for semi-easy access and more importantly organization. I have thought about 3 hole punching everything, but I would probably end up spending a day or so doing that. Any suggestions.

Looking for something for Windows and/or Mac OS X that allow you to invoke or otherwise mark off an area at the side of the screen with only widgets/applets/chiclets/whateverlets in them. It should be different from, say, the OS X dock, in that it should claim its screen real estate fully -- no letting things slide under it or over it, windows that bump up against it should recognize its edge and stop. Fonts. They're driving me nuts. Does anyone know of a simple program to generate a specimen book from all fonts present on a system, installed or not. True type, open type, type 1, etc. The problem is, I have my fonts organzied well enough, but I frequently forget what the ones I don't often use look like.
