Baby-tracking

Babyweb 2.0 - looking for an online app/site to keep track of baby's feeding/pooping etc schedule. Google calendar and iCal are too tedious to update, do not want to do with a spreadsheet or *gasp* pen and paper. Or overblown software.

Ideally you would just have the day with times and be able to quickly add pre-designated events (say feeding) and possibly some extra details (80 mls formula) etc.

Does this exist? What is a quick solution for tracking these things?

What cheap software or webapps can I recommend to help my friend manage her small business?

What free or cheap software, or webapps, can I recommend to help my friend manage and build her small business, a salon? Although there is software out there specifically made for this purpose, it seems out of her price range and shares a lot in common with more general software. I've recommended using Google Calendar to manage her appointments and suggested that her basic inventory needs can be tracked with Excel. However, it would also be helpful for her to be able to track the contact information for her clients and what type of services they receive at each appointment, and perhaps including pictures would be helpful as well.

I would think that someone who has experience in managing a business might have some suggestions for software without having specific knowledge about the salon world. Any advice would be helpful.

Help? I need software to manage my budget!

I need software to manage my personal & business budget. I need to find a piece of software that can manage my income and track all of my expenses. The thing is that I have the income from my job, the income my wife's job, plus I also do some side jobs that I need to keep track of the money that comes in from that. Then I have all of my expenses and I don't know where the money goes. I also need to keep track for my taxes at the end of the year so that I can write certain things off.

Can you recommend any software that can do that?

Too many coins, not enough time...

I have lots of coins. And no young relatives. I need the coins sorting. When I was a child, my grandmother had a coin sorter. More specifically, it was a row of 7 clear plastic tubes, of varying sizes, which were graded. They were upright, fixed to a base, with a lid of correctly sized slots on the top. You had to sort the coins into the correct slots yourself, but it showed you exactly how much of each coin you had.

I want one of these to help me manage my money. However, I *do not* want an electric one. I'm happy to sort the money out myself, but it's important that it shows how much of each coin I have. I also don't want to use one of those Coinstar machines. It's my money, I don't want to have to pay to get it back.

Where can I buy one of these sorters from? I don't mind international shipping, but it needs to be UK currency (GBP). I've looked online, but I can only find the electric versions. Not really practical for me, because I don't work in a bank. :D

Reuniting an iPod with its paired iTunes

I have a question about syncing an iPod to a Mac it was previously paired with. (It's a bit like this question, but 2007-style.) Basically, I used to sync up with a Mac Mini (10.3) using iTunes 7.1.1. I had quit the job and didn't think I was going to be using this computer any more, so I deleted my Library and moved on. Of course, it didn't occur to me to uncheck the automatic-sync option, because I thought I was leaving here for good.

BUT, now I'm working here again every now and then, and it would be nice to manually manage a few things on my iPod. However, I'm scared to death to attach it to the machine because it'll try to sync up with an empty library.

In older versions of iTunes, this wasn't that big of a deal...I'd just go under Preferences and then iPod and choose not to sync. But version 7 seems to store that preference on a screen that only comes up when I actually connect the iPod, which would be much too late to do me any good.

So is there anything I can do? In that previous question, someone mentions holding down ctrl-shift to override the sync, but no way I'm doing that until at least three of you swears it works.

RTFQ: I'm not asking about getting the data off the iPod and back on the hard drive. All the music is backed up on DVD-ROMs and I know all about Senuti. I only want to know how to get my iPod connected to this machine again--without automatically deleting all my music and playlists and metadata--so that I can then manage it manually. Thanks!

Help! I'm swimming in games!

What are some good options for managing a video game collection? I have an Excel spreadsheet currently but would like something that I could add images of the games into. I want something that is not a web-based solution and can be run on a Windows PC. I want to add my own fields for notes, # players, etc. I have pretty good programming skills but would prefer to not reinvent the wheel. Something that could produce simple reports would be nice, too.

Are there any open source or freeware video game collection managers out there? My Google-fu is failing me...help me, hive mind!

What's the best online bookmark managing tool?

What's the best online bookmark managing tool?

Importance placed on being able to access them from any computer and an interface/usability similar to bookmarks native in firefox? I like how Firefox manages my bookmarks. It's quick, always there, easy to search, can be added to in a flash, and sits in the sidebar always in the order that I added them and am used to using them.

However, I'm tired of only having access to those links while sitting at home. What I'm looking for is an online bookmark manager that
- will sit in my Firefox sidebar,
- look/act just like the native bookmarks on my own computer,
- is easy and extremely quick/painless to add a bookmark to (and remove one if i want)
- is accessible from public terminals (and not only through Firefox)

less, but still important
- doesn't require me to log-in for each use
- has the option of keeping bookmarks private (yes, I realize these two clash a bit)

I've tried del.icio.us, and I like it, but I can't find a Firefox extension I like/that works the way I want to bring del.icio.us to my sidebar. I've tried pluck, but it reordered by bookmarks when I uploaded them and does not make it super smooth to add a new bookmark. I've tried Yahoo! My Bookmarks, but it is way to cumbersome to manage them (reorder, delete, etc). I've looked at the Firefox extension Foxmarks, but it doesn't appear to let me view my bookmarks from IE, or a public terminal.

So which service do you suggest, and why? Or, are my priorities wrong, do they emphasize the wrong things, and should I change what I expect from my bookmarks?

...what's next?

DNS service recommendations?

I used to use mydomain.com to handle website and email forwarding. I would just set the DNS to their servers, and set the forwarding to a spot on my server, and it worked perfectly.

I want to be able to manage all my domain forwarding from one account that dosen't charge per domain.
