I have a very very niche job. I've been doing it for over ten years now and have made about $28,000 per year. Because of my experience, I was called in for a meet and greet. It was going to lead nowhere. So, I pretty much blew it off, and blew the next one off, and showed up to the third because it was on my way home.
They hired me and gave me a job that pays about $786,000 per year. I was told that they had reservations about me and told me they were bothered by the fact that I wore "denim with unpatched holes" at the interview. I didn't even think I was being considered. This is very unreal. And now I will have a job that pays me more in my bimonthly check than my last year's entire gross. I will be working with a different clientele, and my position will have more prestige than previously.
So how do I dress? [more inside]

I'm planning on building a Hexayurt and driving it to Burningman and back. I'm told that Hexayurts fold up into a package that's approximately 8x4x1' large. Unfortunately, my car is a 2002 Toyota Camry LE without a roof rack (and without rain gutters, so roof racks are challenging/expensive to install). What's my cheapest option that's still safe for a 1300 mile car trip? [more inside]

My girlfriend and I will be going to Burning Man this year. It was the sort of thing we've both wanted to do forever, and finally bit the bullet to do it. I'm scared, but purely for logistical reasons. Any advice? [more inside]

In my old job (a small creative outfit), I used to wear what is known as "sport-chic attire", which pretty much means a nice shirt and high-end jeans. It was all about having a shirt for every day of the week with 2 or 3 pants and 2 or 3 pairs of shoes. Now that I'm changing jobs, should I change my dress code as well? [more inside]

I am looking for links to places online (or names of brick-and-mortar shops accessible to the Seattle or Portland area) where I can find a unique and unusual pendant for a man. The price should be in the $75-$150 range. I already have a white gold chain so I am looking for the pendant alone. [more inside]

how/where do i go about getting a dress with a man print like this one
? i'm at a loss as to even how to search for such a dress - as man print gives me either leopard print, or mad men dresses. i'm based in australia - but happy to buy o/s and i'm a large size - around a aus 14.
i'm fine with change - going without sleeves, finding a print option where i just get one made, finding a large man print fabric and getting a dress made - i'm just looking for how to go about getting one.

From "The remains of the day"by Kazuo Ishiguro.- In one regreattable case, which I myself witnesses, it had become an established sport in the house for guests to ring for the buttler and put to him random questions of the order of,say, who had won the Derby in such and such a year, rahter as one might to a Memory Man at the music hall.-
What is "a Memory Man" ?

We've gone to Burning Man for a few years. This year a friend is joining us who is a burgin. We know there are things that have become automatic to us that we won't remember to pass on - and probably things we've never figured out that are great ides. What's your best tip, or tips, for Burning Man?

I'm about to ask a—perhaps sexist—question about the possible differences in how men and women—broadly speaking—identify with songs in marketing. But first, some set-up.
As a branding exercise, I've been working on tackling a fictitious start-up consisting of two fashion retailer brands. One's a men's brand, and one's a women's brand, both part of the same fictitious umbrella corporation. When fleshing out the details of any brand, I like to immerse myself in the environment of that brand as much as possible, approaching it almost like a method actor approaches a role. Part of this process for me is usually creating a playlist of music I identify as feeling right
for that brand. Songs I can imagine playing in the store itself. I noticed my thought process behind selecting tracks for the menswear and womenswear brands were entirely different, and I'm wondering if there's any underlying truth or data to support my intuitions. [more inside]

I'm in China and I can get any suit custom made. That's great because I'm tall and heavy. That's also daunting because I have to show up with pictures of what I want. I find it tough to find good links to websites with tips for people like me. What modern suit would look good on me?

I'm trying to think of a movie where a man is having an affair with another woman. During one of the encounters while he should be watching his child, the child accidentally dies I think by falling into a pool. After feeling grieved, he goes through some sort of cave in a park and goes back in time and can make things right again. Apparently, there's something weird about the new neighborhood he's in (spoilers so I won't say more).
Anybody know what the movie is called?!

My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years. We are happy and are sexually active, but we just don't have sex. I know that everybody does it at any age now, and that everywhere you turn, you are somehow reminded of it, but is that so bad? Basically, when we first got together, everything was (of course) perfect. He was a virgin but I wasn't, and he knew that. I liked the fact that we had a lot of sexual tension but that he didn't ever pressure me to do anything I didn't want to. Basically, he wanted me to make the shots. And I feel almost like it's still that way now. [more inside]

Is there any real way a Hermes leather bag is ‘better’ than your average Gucci/LV/Cartier/etc. bag? I mean once you’re in “Handmade in Europe by a company that’s been around since before 1930″ territory it’s all the same right? Trying to figure out whether to save up (a while!) for the big H or forget it and go for the others. [more inside]

Ok! What was the name of the show. It involved two guys, one in his late 20's, incredibly handsome, looked like the blond guy from Dukes of Hazzard only with brown hair, and he wore like a Gulliver's Travel get up, (he may have been from another time in the past) with a wine colored velvet laced up vest, billowing white shirt, and his sidekick was this super dorky teenager 14-18? and they would go on time travels together, and narrowly avoid tricky situations. It was usually shown on weekend afternoons, but it could have had a regular time slot in prime time. Racking my brain! Thanks for your help!
