Is there a way to disable Mail.app on my mac (OS 10.4.11)? It pops up whenever I mistakenly click on a mailto link. I don't use it for my email, so it's really annoying. [more inside]

why does mozilla thunderbird, whenever you cllick a 'mailto:' link on the web, open up the navigator (browser) before it opens up the composer (email client)? Is there anyway to stop the navigator from opening, for it to go directly to the email composer? [more inside]
