Need to fill out a request with the USPS to find a missing package and need a description, but I have no idea what a "China Air Post Postal Packet" looks like and my friend isn't really sure either. [more inside]
This makes no sense to me, but I have lost a super important email I just received by accidentally hitting the "K" key while it was highlighted in my Apple Mail inbox. It is my only copy of an important day-long interview for an academic job. I have tried searching Mail by sender and subject, searching my computer for same including searching content, looking in Mail's trash folder. The Finder's trash is empty. I am stumped, and worried. I really don't want to write back to say that I lost the email. Where could it be??

I have a pen pal in Angola (Louisiana State Penitentiary) to whom I'd like to send money and items (books, cds). I've used JPay and they charge a fee, and then Angola takes 50% of the money after that. When I mail him CDs, books, they must be new and they cannot contain explicit content. Even after I followed these rules, he didn't receive a book until months after it had arrived. Has anyone written up strategies for navigating this bureaucracy? Do any mefites have personal experience with this that they're willing to share?
I recently sent my cherished pair of Frye boots through USPS Priority Mail to the Frye refurbishing center... Now they are missing... [more inside]
A misaddressed wedding invitation with no return address turned up in my mailbox. Should I open it and let the wedding couple know this guest did not receive his invite? Extenuating circumstances inside. [more inside]
Is it possible to send a physical envelope or small package (not an email or radiogram) to a Carnival cruise passenger, specifically the Carnival Freedom on the January 25th cruise? It looks like you can send mail to employees but I haven't found anything about passengers in the middle of a cruise. [more inside]
Is there a way one can purchase individual flu shots by mail for personal use in the US - and if not, why? Flu shots don't seem to require a prescription, and it would seem like it would be much easier to just get it by mail and do it myself than have to wait in line at a flu clinic. (I've had to use injectable medication in the past, so self-administering a shot doesn't bother me, and the nasal mist seems especially easily administered.)
I tried an online text form-to-postal-mail service, and it left me a bit disappointed. It charges by the page, and the text formatting controls are minimal. Even images aren't allowed. Is there a service that will let me upload a PDF and then mail it (in the U.S. via postal mail) to an address I specify?
Is it possible to get monthly or yearly data on the volume of incoming and outgoing mail from each US post office? [more inside]
My son picks up the mail for us every day and there's hardly ever anything for him. Let's fix that. [more inside]
Okay, after using Google Inbox for a couple of months, I am 100% sold on inbox zero. Is there anything like google inbox for that will work for a corporate exchange server that makes grouping and acting on email threads as easy as Google Inbox does it? Ideally for OSX, and I'll pay for it if I have to.
I (in the US) am going to mail a small gift to a friend of mine currently residing in South Korea. Having already unsuccessfully attempted to mail her a postcard a couple of months ago, I want to make sure my package doesn't vanish in the postal abyss since it is going to cost a double-digit number of dollars to mail. How do I properly address it and fill out the address on the customs form properly? [more inside]
I seem to remember that it used to be a thing that your kid could send their letters to Santa to a particular address and they'd get a nice reply from "Santa." Now that I'm old enough to have a kid of my own who wants to send a letter to Santa, I'm not sure where to send the thing. [more inside]
I've got a friend in Waterloo, ON, Canada that doesn't have a safe way to pick up packages. I'd like to send her something. I've used General Delivery (Poste restante) when in a rural area, but have no idea how to do it when in a city. [more inside]
I am looking for a large outdoor box to receive packages securely. [more inside]
This was my AskMe about writing a friend in prison. I wrote him, and he was glad to get my letter. Yay! So what's the problem? He never stops asking me to do stuff for him and he is quickly reaching the limits of my good will. It's getting to the point where I want to either stop corresponding with him or write him and say "Stop sweating me for favors." [more inside]
Gmail does a great job of filtering spam at the site but it's all getting fetched to Mail on my iPhone & iPad. What do I do to get only "primary" mail in Mail?
When I try to flag an email message in Outlook for follow-up, it automatically/instantly changes to completed. What gives? [more inside]
I would really like to be paperless. As soon as I receive them, I'd like non-junk mail and documents to be digitized, then shredded. [more inside]
The mother has previously apologized for her 13-year-old son opening my mail. I have previously reported her to Child Protective Services, after hearing her beating him through our shared apartment wall. Today my Amazon box was completely slit open. Do I call CPS again? police? landlord? Montgomery County, MD. [more inside]
Have you sent mail to Finland from the U.S. with Priority Mail International? Has that ever taken longer than 10 business days? (No customs value involved, in my case - just a standard flat envelope of papers with no value.) [more inside]
My club's Constitution (written in 1934) requires that members be notified of proposed changes by mail. I would like to send a notification via email rather than postal mail and am looking for any legal precedent (preferably in New York State) showing that the legal definition of mail in this case would include e-mail. I'm moving soon (UK Home Office and God willing) from the US to England. I will be there for roughly 3 years, give or take, and am hoping that I can have a portion of my substantial amount of books there with me. Previous suggestions on shipping indicate USPS M-bags as the go-to choice, but USPS no longer offers anything but air service on media bags, pushing the cost to around $175 for 44 lbs. This is more than I want to spend. Ideas? [more inside]
I work at a company that uses Outlook and Exchange. I link my iPhone as well as my iMac at home. Everything was working great until lately. I've noticed that many of my events have been somehow converted into meetings. I'm suspecting my recent upgrade to Mavericks to be the culprit here. This brings to mind two important questions. As part of an artist trading card swap, I made a bunch of little clocks. Only after I was finished did it occur to me that the little clock hands bend (and presumably break) easily, and there are a lot of places where bits could get bent or otherwise messed up in shipping. What's my best bet for packing and shipping these things? More fun: one has to go to England.
What is the best book on the history of sending mail, news, orders and other information by ship?
Can someone familiar with post office procedures tell me if this is a messed-up as I think it is? One day, two independent packages expected that day were, according to the USPS tracking page, scanned as both "Notice Left (No Authorized Recipient Available)" and "Delivered". All four scans had the same timestamp, 2:16 pm on the day they were due. Someone was present at that time, no delivery attempt was in fact made. [more inside]
I need to request a police report from a French city. The USPS doesn't sell International Reply Coupons anymore, and I can't mail coins. I can send a €5 bill (about US$7) to cover the €2 postage, or nothing at all. I have included my email and fax in the letter as well as a self-addressed envelope. Is it a good idea or bad idea to include the five Euros?
Why would a former quasi-tenant address a package to an erroneous address and write my address as his own? This package just got "returned to sender" and he hasn't lived here in 7 months! Should we be worried? [more inside]
My local post office happened to lose a piece of (certified) mail that was important to me- so I was busy chasing them around for the past month to no avail. However, today the green "return receipt" card finally arrived back on my doorstep. But unsigned and the (online) tracking still doesn't indicate it was actually delivered. Do they get sent back unsigned? Did it just fall off and get mailed here? Help solve my mail mystery! [more inside]
I want to fly through my email. GTD/Zero inbox style. Trouble multiple accounts including .Mac, gmail and Gmail for business. I thought I found a desktop client - MailPilot for OSX - but it's just not doing well enough (it's development is too slow.) Meanwhile, I hear that you can be super clever with Gmail - More inside! I had a return to Amazon. I printed the label they provided and put it on the envelope. I didn't realize it was a UPS label and not USPS until last night when I went to check the status of my return. I had accidentally put the envelope in a USPS mailbox on Monday last week, April 1. What is going to happen my package? [more inside]
I have a Mac (Mavericks) and iPhone (iOS 7), and I use the Mac mail client for both. My email is hosted on Google for domains. Some time in the past few months, my mail has started putting perfectly legitimate mail into my Junk folder. It's not marked as junk- I've turned off junk mail filtering altogether, so I don't even have that option anymore, and by my logic nothing should wind up in my Junk folder at all at this point. How can I get my mail to behave properly? [more inside]
I recently made an online purchase for a necklace made with a bird skull, shipped from the UK to the U.S. Seller said it shipped on March 17, and general guidelines seem to be 5-7 days for items to arrive here from the UK (which has been my experience with other mailed items in the past). However the package hasn't arrived yet and I'm wondering if it was delayed by customs. [more inside]

I want to start a service that will put real letters into the mail via a website. I kind of prefer a meaningless name that is simple, unambiguous to spell, and memorable that would grow with the site, if it began to branch out into different areas. And of course, the domain should be open. Any ideas? [more inside]
Why is my iPhone choking on my mail all of a sudden? [more inside]
My windows live mail stopped working two days ago. When I start the program the message says "windows live mail has stopped working and will search the web for a solution." I have searched the web to find a solution and have tried what I found was suggested: going to the windows live essentials file and repairing it. I tried this three times and it still won't work. I am running what I assume is the latest version of explorer and windows live essentials 2011. Everything was fine until two days ago. For what it is worth the latest windows update version is KB2913152 as of 12-12-13. But everything worked until the 1st of January. Assuming I could download an updated version of the essentials, and assuming it would fix the problem, I am concerned about losing my contact list, as I can't get to them at the moment.
I'd like to find an alternative to my current private mailbox setup. It's expensive, open limited hours, and service has not been stellar. The one I have now uses a street address instead of a PO Box, which I like. Also ARE THERE ANY STARTUPS TEARING UP THE PRIVATE MAILBOX SPACE. (I know about Outbox but that seems to require a home mailbox, which I'm trying to avoid.) Thanks.
I have a aunt-in-law who has been forwarding me junk emails she has received from a random email address with my name as the title. I've tried to explain to her that this is likely a junk from her computer's infection, not mine. Can someone send me a link that explains how that works in a simple way for someone of her limited understanding?

I have a domain name hosted by GoDaddy. For a year or so now I've not had a website, I've just had some DNS settings which 1) routed my email to gApps using MX records and 2) allowed me to use Jabber through the domain name by pointing the XMBB [more inside]
A few weeks ago, a package was sent to my apartment from someone I didn't know in Chicago ( I live in California) They had my full name and address and I had never heard of their name.
