I am receiving unsolicited magazine subscriptions along with billing statements. I have called the magazine offices to cancel the subscriptions. I am being told they have the subscription request card from me with my signature. I have requested copies of these cards from the magazine companies to see if I can discern who is responsible. Sending them to me was ok but now they have added my wife to the game and I am no longer amused. If by chance I am able to identify the culprit, would anyone know if there is a legal recourse I could pursue to encourage them to stop?

I want to learn more about how Tyler Brulé got Wallpaper and then Monocle going. I read the great dialog on City of Sound about the design of Monocle online. But I am really interested in Brulé's move into publishing business and being a hands-on editor and taste-maker. Are there books, documentaries, or interview with him or his conspirators that explain how he made it in business? I am especially interested in the pivotal first year of Wallpaper and the first year after Time Warner bought him out.
I'm a journalism student who wants to gain experience with a particular form of freelance magazine writing, if not break into the business itself. How can I find a print or online outlet willing to give me a shot? [more inside]

I read an article in a women's magazine quite a few years ago where the singer kd Lang was being interviewed. In the article she mentions a state of mind where you embrace change (in general) and look for new experiences ... or something close to that. Not sure I have it completely right. I have searched the entire Internet, it seems, and can't find any reference. [more inside]

A number of years ago I saw a photograph in an art magazine of a work by an artist I'm having trouble remembering. The photograph was of an ethereal and calm beach scene, with an endless blue/green sea and a washed out horizon, and tiny plastic figures placed throughout the water and beach at various positions, so that from our perspective these figures looked human and real. Any idea how I can find this image or artist?
My friend recently moved to Portland, OR to go to grad school. I've sent her some guide books for the area, but I'd also like to give her a subscription to a weekly events-type magazine. I'm in NYC and I get a lot out of reading Time Out: New York -- listings of restaurants to try, shows to see, bands playing, etc. I don't think Time Out prints a Portland version, so I'm looking for suggestions from the masses here. Is there something similar to (or even better than!) Time Out:NY for Portland? Thanks!!

I am looking for a magazine that would be interested in a story I've written about being in love without sexual attraction. Nerve is the only magazine that I can think of, but from the looks of things, I doubt they accept anything from writers outside of sunny California. My story isn't sexual explicit, but I don't think a mainstream/family-friendly publication would be interested in this. Does anyone have any suggestions for a Nerve-esque magazine (or zine) that accepts non-fiction that isn't supposed to make you horny?

Anyone have tips on successfully licensing photos of celebrities... for as little money and hassle as possible? [more inside]

I'm trying to find an online version of the illustration from the Best Inventions of 2007 issue of Time Magazine. The illustration depicts a man on a bicycle covered overwhelmingly in gadgets next to a young woman holding an iPhone.
I recently purchased several boxes of magazines at a garage sale, including copies of a German magazine called "Lisa." It's a typical "woman's magazine" (i.e. fashion, celebrity news, recipes, human interest stories). It's been fun to peruse through it since we don't get much exposure to "foreign" stuff here in the sticks, and one of the recipes caught my eye: Luftige Joghurt-Aprikosen-Torte. [more inside]
