Life Magazine? Article About A Violent Pair of Addicts

I'm searching for an ethnographic, non-fiction article about two young homeless addicts, one a white male and one a pregnant black female. I believe, but am not certain, it was published decades ago in Life Magazine and that I found it through Longform.org. I'll put as many (possibly triggering, definitely unpleasant) details as I can inside. [more inside]

Recommend journal articles about rape.

Please recommend journal or magazine articles about rape. I'm looking for a select few especially worthwhile articles—insightful, written in plain language. Any aspects welcome, from legal analysis to personal stories. Substantial articles preferred (i.e., longer essays, not opinion columns).

Lost magazine article

I read an article in a women's magazine quite a few years ago where the singer kd Lang was being interviewed. In the article she mentions a state of mind where you embrace change (in general) and look for new experiences ... or something close to that. Not sure I have it completely right. I have searched the entire Internet, it seems, and can't find any reference. [more inside]

Writing Nonfiction and Children's Literature: Do you know of any good literature ABOUT these subjects?

I am looking for well regarded books/scholarly papers about writing. Most specifically in the areas of Nonfiction (the essay style of article writing) and Children's Fiction (for a young adult audience). Any tips? Go as far and broad as you can. I'll be off to the British library tomorrow, so the sky is the limit. [more inside]
