Did that outage just zap my internets?

We had a power outage for about 3 hours yesterday evening, and when I restarted my Mac mini, I could not connect to the internet. Our wireless modem/router is working fine, as our other Mac (an ancient PowerBook g4) and my phone can both go online using wifi. Please help! More things we've tried below: [more inside]

I'd like to be a power user, not luser in OSX-land

I'm a Windows systems administrator and power user and an enthusiastic user of Unix/Linux-based operating systems. I have hand edited make files and recompiled linux kernels manually. I know how to do administrative scripting and am a Microsoft products (SharePoint, if it matters) support professional/systems engineer in my job. I am certainly not the geekiest person I know but I'm in the top 5 percent. I am switching to a Mac Mini (Lion Server, specs maxed toward storage) after decades of using Windows laptops/desktops and some Linux machines. I'm prepared for the lack of physical mobility, but I don't feel prepared for not being a power user. What methods/resources would you suggest I could use to get up to speed with being a Mac Mini and OSX Lion power user? [more inside]

I want to watch movies from anywhere!

I have a Mac Mini that I'm using as a media center running Plex. I want to be able to watch the media stored there (a couple terabytes of AVIs, MP4s, etc...) from anywhere I am, on a laptop or hopefully even on my iPhone. Is there any hardware/software solution that will help with this? [more inside]

Pimping Out a MacMini as Media Center, etc.

I'm consolidating and trying to save some money in the coming years. To that end I've acquired an older Mac Mini and pulled out an old monitor. I've set it as a working media center, but I think I could do more and do it more efficiently. [more inside]

How to do concurrent multi-user OSX?

How do I go about logging in, remotely and with something like VNC, to Mac OSX, while also (at the same time) using the computer locally as a different user? Is this possible? Is there a different way to do this? (I already have ssh all set up, if that'll help.)
