Question. I upgraded to Parallels 5.0 to run a Windows Virtual machine on my Macbook. The problem is that icons on the Windows desktop show up on the Mac desktop and vice versa. How can I set up Parallels so that both desktops are separate identities that don't impact each other?

Trying to remember the name of an old mac computer game: Like chess, but the board could be set up differently, with blank spaces around which pieces had to move . Pieces moved like both checkers and chess. Some of them were "magical" -- could teleport to other spaces or serve as a wall. What are the Mac equivalents of great Windows software? This was a great question about what a Mac person should install on a Windows box. I'm going the other way, as my office kindly bought me a new MacBook Pro. I'm a scientist and haven't used a Mac since OS 7.5. For the past decade my machines have been Windows, Linux, or dual-boot. Freeware/shareware programs I use a lot under Windows: Cygwin, Essential PIM, FLVplayer, IrfanView, Maxima, Openoffice.org, Scilab, Winamp, Xemacs, Xplorer2 pro. Commercial software: Mathematica, IDL, occasionally Microsoft Office. I'm mostly interested in freeware or shareware such as great text and image editors, tex/latex, and other nerdware. Thanks! Naturally, the new laptop runs Leopard.

Is there any free software to capture audio broadcasts from the internet? I am a novice. I am not sure how to go about it. There are a few sites that will play through real audio but i would like to capture a file in a format such as mp3 to my desktop that I can burn to disc to listen in my car.
