I'm looking for images that combine human bodies with machine heads.
Two examples are the Freaky Flicks
mascot and Andrzej Klimowski's cover illustration for Faber and Faber's 1992 edition of Vargas Llosa's
Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter.
Do you know any more?

I have a really squeaky printer. I tried WD-40, but the squeakiness comes back. One of my engineering friends suggested that I needed something similar to sewing machine oil, but perhaps a little thicker, since the gears are plastic. Any ideas on what kind of lubricant I should get? And where I could get it? Aside from the squeakiness, this REALLY is a good printer (Canon MP130), and I really don't want to get another one.

Can any sewing people answer this: How can I "recycle" sewing machine needles? It irritates me that after I've sewn some clothes or worked on a quilt, I have to toss the needles or my machine will get all huffy and start bollixing the thread -- especially the bobbin side. Can machine needles be resharpened or used for something else? I live in a small Texas town and it costs a lot (gas prices, you know) to travel over 100 miles to the nearest city to buy a new supply of sewing machine needles. Thanx.

Is there a “standardized” chart of accounts setup that is widely used among machine shops/small manufacturers (USA)? Working with other industries in the past (veterinary and restaurants), I have found that many choose to use a standard industry-specific chart of accounts – often established by a national industry association, etc. I have googled, etc. but have not found anything worthwhile for machine shops/small manufacturers... Any accountants or shop owners out there?

I'd like to use my bike to power simple household items, such as our hand-cranked coffee grinder or the electric chargers for my cell phone and laptop. I'm thinking of this as a home-build project which I could use with
my regular road bike. Where would be a good place to find mix & match machine parts, such as gears, chains, or axles? Does such a catalog exist, or would it be necessary to go to a real machine shop and get parts made? As a kid, I was handy with
Lego Technic, and I'm looking for something at about that level of difficulty (adjusted +16 years for age, of course).
80-20 and a simple training stand would do part of the job, but I'd still need gears and axles.

I just moved and got a new phone number that I'd rather not change. Twice every night at 4am, the phone rings and there's a fax machine on the other end. The caller ID shows "Unknown name, Unknown number." Besides leaving the phone off the hook or hooking up a fax machine (that I don't have), what can I do to stop these calls?

Telephone message software. What are some good voicemodem-telephony programs for Windows? I need a program where callers who enter a certain PIN (via touch tone) can hear a recorded announcement that I provide. I've seen some telephony software but I don't recall any support for touch tone entry. Seems something that theater movie lines use would be perfect.

We've recently bought a manual type pasta maker. Looks like fun and operation mostly make sense. One thing though: when I'm rolling sheets of pasta how do I determine what the proper thickness is for the type of pasta I'm making? The machine has seven settings. Some things are obvious: angel hair at the thinnest setting for instance, but how thick should fettucine or linguine or plain ol' spaghetti be?
