Today, at work, my 2012 Macbook Pro (non-retina) started flickering while plugged into an external monitor. Unplugging and replugging the external monitor fixed it. However, when I got home, the Macbook started flickering again. I forced a reboot, which resulted in the screen flickering and going black. I have a Genius Bar appointment tomorrow, but I am curious what the Hive Mind thinks the problem might be.

Today, I purchased a new 13" MacBook Pro, model MD101LL/A, which I believe is a June 2012 model. I have an existing, working 13" MacBook Pro from early 2011. Can I just pull the hard drive out of the old one and stick it in the new one, or should I restore from a backup? Also, what are the odds the memory in the old one will work in the new one? Both are Core i5.

I have a 13-inch, early 2011 Macbook Pro (unibody) that fell out of my backpack and onto a sidewalk. It was in a neoprene sleeve, which helped, but the aluminum screen cover (the part with the white Apple logo on it) is rather dented. The laptop works fine, and there are no cracks on the screen at all. However, I am interested in getting this part replaced, and I have some questions about cost.

A few weeks ago, I put into my new Macbook Pro (2.3 i5) 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM in it from Crucial. The result was Kernel Panics and unstable applications. I reinstalled the (4GB) Apple RAM, and the problem went away. Crucial sent me replacement memory, I installed it, and guess what?

Which is a better deal right now: a refurbished 15.4" Refurbished April 2010 MacBook Pro 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 or a new, current generation 13-inch: 2.7 GHz 2.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 Macbook Pro for $100 less?
