Mail.appFilter: instead of deleting messages, Mail has taken to "ghosting" them, turning them grey. I've tried the "vacuum" trick via the terminal, and eliminating the Envelope Index and reimporting all the messages (more than once), as previously suggested - but the behaviour continues, and erratically, at that. My father-in-law replaced his old Mac Mini with a newer Mac, so he asked me if I wanted the Mini. I've been a Windows guy for almost two decades (with a soft spot for Linux) but have never owned or used a Mac. I'm looking for a program (OS X, must be 10.5.8-compatible with my oldtimey work computer) that will generate contact sheets of photos and it must print the file name under each photo and allow for a title to be entered on top (ex. Marcy Building Site Visit 1/13/2010). Right now, my work computer has iPhoto 5 and Photoshop Elements 3 on it. PE can do everything except auto-add a title. Mac Leopard operating system: Can I customize the user icon and desktop wallpaper of the guest account? The default user icon for the guest account is a male silhouette; I would like to change it, but it does not give this option in the system preferences like it does for standard user accounts. Is there any way for me to successfully download Adobe's 'Macromedia Authorware' program to a Mac OSX 10.5 operating system? (Recently upgraded from 10.4.11....I think). I have tried several times, but when downloaded I click to open and end up with a text edit file. So not helpful to my school psychology experiments. Bizarre OSX Snow leopard problem. MBP unibody, 3.06 core2 duo. 8 GB ram. 500 Gig 5400 RPM drive. OSX 10.6.2 Starting about four weeks ago, my system slowly spins out of control - dock/finder/force quit become some of the first apps to fall. This ends in a freeze - UI responsive (mouse, some window movement) with the eventual need to force restart (holding down the power button) It's so bad that I'm constantly running the Console and Activity Monitor to see if I can find some clues. I found an archive of old mail I got in the late 90's using Outlook Express 4 (OE4). The files are in .mbx format, not in .dbx (and certainly not in standard mbox). Opening the files in an hex editor allows me to view the content of those mailboxes. Is there anyway to convert that mail archive into something more usable for Mac OS X (or Linux)? [more inside]
