I will be reinstalling mac OSX Yosemite because of constant problems with it but I am looking to retain the folders that have been previosuly created to organise my mails. I am using Outlook 2011 as my mail client. Does using: File - Export - selecting outlook for mac data file (.olm), when imported back, retain the previous folder structure that I have used to organise my mails? If not could anyone suggest how I could keep the existing folder organisation? Many thanks!
I use Gmail and I'm running Yosemite on my Mac. What's the difference between using the newest version of Outlook vs the Mail app?
I'm helping my dad with his transition to Mac from PC, and there's one big piece of the puzzle missing. He's planning on using Outlook on the Mac (since he's used it for years on a PC), but would love a filing system like Simplyfile. While there seem to be a lot of filing systems for Apple Mail, I can't seem to find a good one for the latest version of Outlook for Mac. Any advice, hive mind? [more inside]
Are there any iOS apps or desktop Mac OS apps that play nice with gmail's tabbed inbox? I realize some do priority inbox, but that's not what I want. [more inside]
Some really horrible stuff was going down at work. I took absolutely no part in it, and even acknowledged that it may not be legal. I did this all over email, and even received responses back acknowledging this. I was explicitly threatened that if i wasn’t going to be a part of it, then i was to “forget about it or lose your job”. So recently, they all got busted. And like a bunch of cowards, they all blamed it on me. And because I’m the low girl on the totem pole, it looks like I might have been the one doing all this stuff (without ANY proof). But I have proof! [more inside]

I recently started reading all my email on my smartphone. I still want to download every message in Thunderbird on my Mac (to archive it), but I don't want to manually mark everything as read after downloading it. Is there a way to either disable the "unread" flag, or auto-mark all new messages as read when they are received? [more inside]
I'm launching a Kickstarter campaign tomorrow, and I have around 1500 people to email. How do I do this simply? I'd like the emails to come from my personal gmail address (and not DONOTREPLY@Mail1000.com or something), and if possible, I'd like to customize the emails such that they refer to each person by name (I have everyone in an excel file at the moment). If relevant for potential software/plugin solutions, I have a Mac and a Wordpress site on a good server.
I, sadly, have to keep an eye on an Exchange e-mail account. There is no IMAP. Is there a small Mac app that will live in the menu bar and notify me of new e-mail that actually works? Bonus if I can quickly reply to the e-mail when it appears. [more inside]

Is there a way, in Apple Mail, to set a filter that will immediately move an email to the trash AND send an auto-response to the sender, stating that his email has been blocked/rejected? Flagging it as spam is not an option--I want to never even see the message, and I do check my spam occasionally for false positives.
What's the best service to have a bunch of users sign up for email accounts? I'll be teaching an intro to computers (Macs) class, and I'm sure people will want to use email. So, for people who don't already have an email address, I'll go through registering for an email account. But I really want to show them Mail.app so the service should have excellent IMAP support. Apple Mail.app question: I'm setting up a friend with Apple's Mail (mail.app 3.5 on Leopard 10.5.5). Everything is great -- it works like a charm. Except for something that is different than his old client (AOL for Mac -- ack!): When a message is selected, and you delete it, the selection moves "UP" the list, selecting the *prior* message, not "DOWN" to the *next* message. This is exactly the opposite of AOL and Outlook and other mail clients. Anybody know of a terminal hack on defaults write or another way to swap this behavior? [more inside]

I manage a small network of users, and currently we are using Google Apps for our domain, and getting mail via POP. I'd very much like to fake IMAP access to Google by creating an intermediary/shadow account (either on our web host, or on our local Apple XServe running OS X 10.4 Server) and configuring it like so: 1. Set Google address to forward automatically to shadow account. 2. Set desktops to check mail through shadow account, but send email through Google's SMTP servers, to keep conversations in tact.
