Quite suddenly, my modem works if I plug it into a machine, but not when I plug it into an Airport Express. Comcast says it's not their fault. Any idea what's going on? Every detail I can think of is inside.

Help please. I consider myself pretty capable when it comes to computers and the internet and networks, but I can't fix this. I have two Windows 7 laptops and one Mac laptop with an older Airport Extreme and a brand new Arris WBM760A modem that won't play nice.

A few days ago, I woke up to the sound of my MacBook fan on full and a totally unresponsive UI (as in I couldn't even turn up the brightness to see the screen, which I'd dimmed overnight). I rebooted, and everything was fine, except the Airport menu bar item said "No Airport card is installed". I've booted from the previous day's backup, I've run System Profiler from the OS X install DVD, and I even replaced the Airport card with a new one (bought from eBay, fitted according to the instructions on iFixIt). All report that I don't have an Airport card. What next?

What is the difference between an Apple Airport
Express Base Station, and an Airport
Extreme Base Station? I have a tiny 500-square foot apartment. All I want is to be able to surf the web wirelessly. Can I go with the cheaper Express Base Station? Why is one cheaper than the other (in other words, what can the Extreme do that the Express cannot)?

I just received my new Airport Extreme. I'm eager to make use of its ability to connect to a USB drive. I'd like to transfer most of my data — songs, movies, and TV shows, in particular — to this drive, and then use it as a central repository for most of my Macs. But these computers already have existing iTunes libraries. What's the easiest way to make this transition? What's the
best way?

I have a Mac at home running 10.3.9. I would like to plug a telephone line into the modem port and be able to call in to it while I'm on the road using my laptop. I don't need or want access to the files, I don't want or need to see the Tibook's screen, or control the computer at home. I just want dialup access to the internet via my cable modem connection at home, more or less rolling my own ISP. Is this possible? If not with my Mac, what about one of those AirPorts? I heard some of them have modems but some of them don't, anyone else doing anything like this?

My coworker's Apple Powerbook with Airport Extreme can't use the new D-Link DWL-2100AP. We can see the access point, can see that the access point sees and connects to him, but something about the apple's DHCP or networking config won't pull an IP and also won't work when we set everything manually. Any ideas?

Stupid Mac question - I have an AirPort card, but no base station. I was just visiting my cousin for the weekend, and they have one, and they did
something to my computer to get it to connect to their wireless network (they have all sorts of security on it) and now I cannot have my AirPort card turned on without it automatically connecting to my neighbors' networks. I use an ethernet cable here at home, and I have my configuration set to look for the ethernet connection before a wireless one. I am at a total loss as to what to do to tell it to not automatically connect, short of leaving the card turned off unless I'm using it (and Apple's website is no help, because they assume that you
do want to use it). Any ideas?
