Wonder how I disabled my MacBook Pro keyboard

I was replacing a trackpad in my MacBook Pro (about 2012 model). After I booted back up the keyboard stopped responding. Is there anything obvious I could have unplugged or damaged to make this happen?

Affinity Pro vs. Acorn for a webcomic artist getting back in the game?

Asking for a friend - the last time they did webcomics, it was on a free version of Photoshop Elements that came with their multi-function printer. They would sketch on paper and scan and work miracles in Elements in Windows XP. They're now on a Mac, and many years have passed, and Photoshop Elements is kinda pricey compared to the competition and looks and acts weird compared to what they're used to. What now? [more inside]

Sequence of images of numbers

I'm looking for a pack of images, each one of a number from 0 to 99. PNG format would be best, but if that's not available I'm not fussy. If there was also a way that I can script this in Photoshop or in Automator (Mac), or some other way to create them. I'd like to download something to test an idea, but eventually will have to make the images to my own specs. [more inside]

I've moved to an office which uses Macbooks and Gmail/Google calendar. I can't believe I'm saying this but I miss Outlook! My company won't pay for a licence, but I'd be willing to pay for it myself to bring some order back to my life. Is this possible? Can I buy something like this and sych it with my company Gmail? Where is my Mac (and maybe my iphone?) hiding stuff I may need?

Tomorrow is my last day at a job I’ve been at for years. For all that time, the company has owned my only computer and my only phone. Much of what’s on both is the company’s, and of course I’ll leave that behind. There are some personal documents that I know are mine, and I know how to keep them. Is there other stuff tucked away on the Mac or the iPhone that I may want to keep? What, and how? [more inside]

How should I create an awesome customizable searchable database in 2016?

Technology keeps changing and I know you guys are on top of it more than I am... so helllllpppp! We want to create a database of detailed text information, photos, videos, links, etc. (whatever I can find) that can be tagged and accessed easily when we're looking to provide a client answers on a topic. Before we compile and input it all, I want to make sure we're using the best possible resource to build it instead of just throwing it all into evernote or Excel without looking into other (possibly better, easier and more flexible) solutions. How to get away from Dropbox.

I'm trying to not use that terrible service. I dislike it's clunky interface, it's pricing structure, and it's lack of transparency. What I really want is a Samba server that requires authentication that I can just, like, rent monthly. We all use laptops, and often work off-site, so we need a central file repository that seamless integrates with Mac OS. Hence my thoughts on SMB. I'm also open to other solutions. Our needs are simply: off-site file rw access, Mac compatible. I'm also open to an on-site fileserver, but that might require some re-working of the (shitty comcast modem's) firewall. [more inside]

Is it possible to restore 25 photos from a time machine backup

So I've got a macbook air. There is NOT a ton of room left on it. But somehow a bunch (like 25-30) photos I took were deleted. I'm still not sure how. And I want to restore JUST those photos. Upgrade Macbook Air from 10.6.8 to El Capitan, or is that a mistake?

I have a Macbook Air that is happily chugging along on OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). Obviously, I haven't upgraded the OS in, well, ever, which hasn't really been a problem. However, lately, I'm starting to get little issues here and there, where I can't use a particular app or software because my OS doesn't meet the minimum requirements, etc. My biggest concern about upgrading is whether my computer has enough oomph to handle the newer, bigger OS or if it will just get bogged down. Why can't I reliably see my favorite folders on my Mac anymore?

Normally, when I open up the Finder on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012, running OS 10.11.1) in the sidebar to the left of the window, I can see a list of my favorite folders. But lately, sometimes when I open Finder (or when I click "Browse..." to select a file for upload somewhere) the list of Favorites is often missing. Sometimes all that's left is "Media," sometimes it's "Shared." This makes it really difficult to navigate my computer. What is causing this, and how can I fix it?
