When and how to tell my school that I'm leaving?

I am a high school science teacher. Next summer, I am leaving my current school so my family can move back to my childhood home town. I was planning to inform my current school's administration in January-ish, but it's getting harder to avoid telling them without lying, or causing them to waste resources, which I'd rather not do. On Monday, I'm in on a meeting specifically about plans for next year that will probably involve me and require my input. Help! What should I do and when should I do it? [more inside]

My boss lies. How do I handle it politically?

My boss likes to be in control of everything, including chains of communication. Unexpectedly this week, I learned that one way she's been keeping control is by lying; she keeps the chains of communication to herself and then lies about what other people have said. I don't know how long she's been doing this and I don't know the most politically savvy way to handle it. Advice? Examples inside. [more inside]

Need help IDing a song

I heard a song on the radio today that I really liked, but foolishly I didn't drop everything and try to find it, and now that I've forgotten the lyrics I attempted to memorise, I need help to ID it! The station's website only shows the last 20 or so recently played songs, so it's no help. What I remember is that the song was girl group-y, almost certainly from the sixties or seventies, and that the lyrics were in part about lying—I think there was some plaintive line in the chorus accusing someone of lying or something. OBVIOUSLY this doesn't narrow things down much, but I'll listen to anything that you think fits the bill!

How to deal with friend's infidelities

My friend has been involved in a committed, sexually exclusive romantic relationship for over a year. However, he has already had multiple affairs outside of the relationship. His girlfriend does not know. I like and respect her and am sick of seeing this going on behind her back. Seeing my friend lie, cheat, etc. has also damaged my liking and respect for him. I want this stressful situation to end but do not know what I can ethically do. Please advise. [more inside]

Six-Year Old Has Discovered Lying -- Strategies for Dealing

Our otherwise delightful six-year-old daughter has begun to tell an increasing number of lies over the past 6-7 months. The lies tend toward the lazy, (e.g., "yeah, I've already done my homework") rather than malicious or fantastical, but the frequency and ease with which she dashes them off is alarming -- as is her increased propensity for fabricating more elaborate tales. I know some lying by kids is to be expected (I certainly was no saint at that age), but do any parents out there have any winning strategies to help deal with this? [more inside]

You lied and now Twitter has found out!

I recently became enthralled with the unfolding Twitter saga of the larcenous wedding photographer. So now I'm wondering how many similar stories have happened without me realizing; not just the big stories like Anthony Weiner, the Li Gong incident and Cook Source, but more low-key incidents that I might not have heard about where people were lying, cheating, or were just plain wrong and were discovered through social media. The human flesh search engine and Internet vigilantism articles on Wikipedia have some famous examples, but does anyone know about more obscure stuff? Thanks!
