Going camping, responsible for lunches. Need ideas. Googling primarily gives me chili and hot dogs. Ideally, I would like tasty, protein-rich lunch ideas (sandwiches are perfectly acceptable and maybe even desirable) made from ingredients that can be kept at room temperature and which have minimal cleanup. So some friends of mine, who have a two-year-old, are coming to visit me this weekend in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I don't have kids, but I know there are a lot of kids in the neighborhood, so I know there has to be some kid-friendly dining options. I only moved in to the neighborhood about a month ago, so I have not had time to explore. Ideally I'd like to find a bunch of kid-friendly restaurants in the neighborhood and send the kid's mom a list of them so that she can pick one out. Any recommendations?

Yesterday, I found a delicious and huge banh mi on Broome street for $4.50. This made me think: there have to be, in my general vicinity, other good lunches that don't cost a lot. I generally pay $8 to $15 for lunch, and I'm tired of it, and I'm also fatigued from all the places I currently go. Tell me other (cheap) places to try! [more inside]
I've just started a new job that doesn't have a microwave (or an oven) in the kitchen, which is a big downer for me as I've always taken leftovers or other easily heated food for work lunches (and there isn't any other heating facilities close by that I can use). The thought of only being able to take cold salads or plain sandwiches for lunch isn't very appealing as I quite enjoy tucking into a spaghetti bolognaise or chicken schnitzel at lunchtime, and with winter approaching here in the southern hemisphere I live off hot, chunky soups during those months. Can anyone suggest any filling foods I can take for my lunch that don't need to be hot/warm to be delicious? Bonus points if they aren't too expensive or difficult to make in addition to dinner of a night.
I moved to DC recently-ish, but haven't explored the restaurant scene very well. Now I have a friend coming to town next week, staying right near the Dupont Circle Metro station, and I could use some recommendations for places to eat. Can any locals help me out? [more inside]

I am looking for suggestions for a restaurant in midtown Manhattan for a weekday lunch gathering of 3 visually-impaired folks (one with a dog) and another person (me) using a mobility scooter. We would like to find a spot between Port Authority and Penn Station. We'd like a place that's relatively inexpensive and not too noisy. I don't know what kind of food everyone likes, so having several places to choose from would be helpful. [more inside]
