How standard is the 3-meals-a-day eating behaviour? What about times of day for eating, x-culturally? It would be interesting to hear any insights from folks outside of North America. Thank you!

I pack a lunch every day for a 15 year old boy (not my son - I have only been doing this for a year so I don't intimately know all of his likes and dislikes).
This year he has asked for "healthier" lunches, as he plays sports and is pretty small in stature but wants to get bigger and stronger.
I have NO idea how to get any healthier than what I am doing, given his particularities: [more inside]

So some friends of mine, who have a two-year-old, are coming to visit me this weekend in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I don't have kids, but I know there are a lot of kids in the neighborhood, so I know there has to be some kid-friendly dining options.
I only moved in to the neighborhood about a month ago, so I have not had time to explore. Ideally I'd like to find a bunch of kid-friendly restaurants in the neighborhood and send the kid's mom a list of them so that she can pick one out.

I moved to DC recently-ish, but haven't explored the restaurant scene very well. Now I have a friend coming to town next week, staying right near the Dupont Circle Metro station, and I could use some recommendations for places to eat. Can any locals help me out? [more inside]

An old friend is visiting my vast metropolitan area and we'd like to meet up for lunch tomorrow. What's a good, infant-friendly spot to grab a bite of lunch, sip a beer (maybe shoot some pool?), somewhere between Yorba Linda, CA and downtown Los Angeles? [more inside]
