Someone was moving out of my building shortly after I moved to my current apartment, resulting in my girlfreind and I getting a free queen sized mattress. I left it on its side for about three days while I got my stuff sorted, and since then the side that was in the air has a huge lump. Have I ruined it, or is there a way to fix this? [more inside]
I have a lump in my breast and I need to know what to expect when I go to the doctor. [more inside]
Our cat Crazy has a lump on her paw. Since she hates going to the vet, thought I'd try this route first. The lump has been on her paw for a few weeks. At first I thought it was just a clump of litter, but no, it is attached. .5 cm and sticks out more than the pic shows. It is hard and it does not appear to cause pain when touched.
I’m going to have it looked at within the next few days, but what might this lump at my belly button be, and how worried should I be about it? Freaking myself out with Google. [more inside]
I just discovered a hard, white, roughly quarter-inch lump in my mouth, just behind my incisors on my jaw. It is painless, and I have a dentist appointment on Tuesday, but I am curious and slightly freaking out as to what this could be. [more inside]
I'm seeking as many opinions as I can get from people with knowledge of financial advising and/or trusts & estates and/or estate planning, about what my parents (in their 80s) ought to do with their $250,000 in liquid assets. I'm NOT looking for the kind of detailed plan we'd get from an advisor whom we hire; I'm looking for short, quite general, common sense answers (such as "These ONE OR TWO types of instruments are good/bad; all others are to be avoided/considered.") I'm also looking for as many answers as I can get. In order to get that assortment of answers, I want to disclose only a very few specific things about the folks: 1. they currently rent an apartment; they do not own a home. 2. they are in their 80s--relatively healthy and can drive, shop, take care of themselves, but I'm not sure how long that'll last. I'd like to see them in a retirement community within a couple years. 3. Their only income (which doesn't amount to much) is social security. 4. They lose about $2,100 in total expenses every month. That's just about equal to what they take in each month. 5. Their one and only significant asset is a liquid $250,000. Okay, at their age, and considering all the above, WHAT IS/ARE THE MOST PRACTICAL THING(s) THEY SHOULD DO WITH THAT LUMP OF LIQUID MONEY? THANK YOU from their worried adult child with a family of my own!
I have the opportunity to take a retirement plan lump sum … [more inside]
Having found the lump a year ago this June, it took me until today to find the courage to try doing something. Many of the sites I found said to go through my local health department, so I finally worked up the courage to walk in today. They had no idea what to say, and no longer offer any program that would help. I walked out with a pamphlet for a clinic in another town that they think "might" have a program to help with a sliding payment scale but they weren't even sure about that. [more inside]
I'm taking him to the vet this afternoon, but I'd like some input and advice before I head over there. Thanks! [more inside]
There is a soft lump toward the front of the roof of my mouth. It is not a blister. It is not a canker sore. It might be a result of an infection where I had a root canal 6 months ago. Naturally, I think it's awful and life-ending. [more inside]
Between now and my doctor's appointment, could you offer up an opinion on what this lump in my abdomen might be? [more inside]
A few days ago I was in the shower, and I noticed a tiny lump in the front of my armpit. Initially I thought it was a zit, so I poked it with a needle. It hurt and thus it was apparently not a zit. As I examined it closer, I saw that it was more... fleshy. [more inside]

While I wait to hear results from a needle aspiration... what can you tell me about scary doggy lumps, in your experience? After getting our dog her radical spring haircut we discovered a lump, between marble and walnut-sized, on her upper front left leg, about midway above the joint, on the front of the leg. It's movable (moves around under finger pressure/movement), and doesn't seem to cause her any pain or warrant her attention at all. [more inside]

I have self-diagnosed the lump on the inside of my left wrist as a ganglion cyst. My GP's on a vacation for two weeks. This isn't urgent, is it? I can wait till he gets back, right guys? [more inside]
My sweet boyfriend's dearest friend has been diagnosed with Hodgikn's Lymphoma. Last time we saw him he was complaining about a lump in this throat, and saying they didn't know what it was but not to worry, he was probably just getting over an infection. Typical blase doctors, oh yeah forgot to mention, he is five years into a ten year prison sentence for some youthful foolishness. [more inside]
I've got a 14-year-old male indoor cat with a large lump inside his mouth, on his cheek. He doesn't seem to notice or care much—he's been eating/drinking and behaving normally (alpha male). He accidentally bites down on it sometimes and causes it to bleed. It's not a substantial amount of blood, but that doesn't seem healthy. [more inside]
YANAD. Boyfriend has pea-ish sized hard mass right above belly button which doesn't protrude. Mild sharp pain, worse after eating. Touching it doesn't cause extra pain. He's also been extra gassy and a bit constipated. First noticed the lump/pain 4-5 days ago. Our health insurance is kicking in August 1st (and it's an HMO, so don't know how fast he'll be able to see someone). Is this something he should see a doctor about immediately? Should I be taking him to an ER? Lumpy masses are scary . . .

After a diagnostic mammogram and subsequent immediate ultrasound, the cyst discovered in last year's same tests has grown. AND, how long do biopsy results take? [more inside]

Found a distinct lump, and suspect it might be a hemorrhoid. I'm worried, though, that it could be something much worse. Can I wait for my next appointment with my doctor in two weeks or is this something I should have examined right away? If, for example, it was a tumour, would two weeks make a difference?
I fell and chipped a tooth, and have a huge bump on the back of my head. Is there any reason I shouldn't fly 13 hours tomorrow? [more inside]

I have a lump in my cheek. I had a root canal + crown about a month or so ago and noticed it when feeling my then still numb face. I can only really feel it when I open my mouth all the way, as if yawning. It's not visible, and about the size of a quarter. There's no pain, but it kind of moves a bit if I push on it.(Likes..slides a bit?) I did some research and found lots of stuff about salivary glands, but this seems a bit high up and more towards the front than the diagrams I've seen. Any ideas? I have no issues about going to the doctor, just wondering if anyone had any thoughts.
I suddenly developed a knot/lump and pain in the ball of my foot late last night that has persisted for 24 hours. I know it's not plantar fasciitis as I don't have stabbing pains in my heel or midfoot. [more inside]

BumpFilter: Last night I noticed that my right outer thigh felt different than my left. If I had to pinpoint it I'd say it's halfway between buttock and knee, on the outside of my thigh, located closer to the back of the leg than the front. I'm 23, slim and a very healthy eater. [more inside]
My kitty has a lump on the back of his leg. About the size of my thumbnail and under the skin. By 'back of leg' I mean that ruffle of fur on the edge of his flank/rump/upper thigh... bit. Should I post a pic? -Ask :) Anyway it's about in the middle of that section and slightly to the inside. It was quite firm but not hard and felt evenly textured (like a gummi bear? but more solid). He didn't even register when I stunbled upon it. It's not hot (infection) or 'ouchy' at all. I don't think it's hurting him. And I'm just about to investigate meticulously for more, but so far it's just that one. OMG!! My furry little man has cancer! Quick wise people... do you think it is? Maybe it's not, and before I wave him about in some poor vets face (and get billed accordingly!!) it's probably a good idea to ask. It could be nothing, right?
I'm afraid of taking my cat to the vet because of possible accusations of animal abuse. How do I diffuse this situation? [more inside]

I recently noticed what appears to be a slightly swollen (pea-sized) lymph node on the left side of my neck, about halfway up the neck. I first noticed it about 5 days ago. I can feel another node next to it, but on the right side of my neck, I can feel only one node in the same place. I don't have any other symptoms that might suggest lymphoma (itching, fever, night sweats, fatigue, weight loss). The swollen node does not feel hard or fixed, and it hasn't changed size. Is there cause for concern? I do have a blemish that I've sort of been picking at on the left side of my neck, so could that be the cause of the swollen node? I guess it's possible that this node has always been there but I haven't noticed it before. I do have hypochondriac tendencies. I'm 26 and had mono about four years ago.

In the last two weeks, a weird nodule has formed on the bottom of my tongue. I think it's a ranula, but I'm not a doctor and can't say that for certain. I don't have health insurance, but I gotta get rid of this thing before it gets massive and more painful. What kind of doctor do I see to get this removed?
