Help my sanity - share your grainless vegetarian recipes! I can't tolerate any grains, rice, oat, barley, wheat, corn, quinoa, etc. This means that traditional "gluten free" replacements are out of the question. I'm starting to hit the wall in terms of being able to deal with it, and I need some variety in my diet! Yogurt and Low Carb Diets

I just read a webpage indicating that due to the way the govt makes food mfgrs calulate ingredients in their products, the amount of carbs in yogurt is overstated. Much of the lactose in the milk used to make it is converted to lactic acid, but remains in the carb count in the nutrition facts on the carton. I understood the fermentation process before, but was not aware of the label being misleading. Could anyone point me to research or a definitive source showing that this is true? Thanks.

I'm doing a nutrition and exercise coaching program through Precision Nutrition, , which basically slowly introduces 10 basic habits and a schedule of workouts designed to help lose body fat and build muscle. One of the "habits" is to eat starchy carbohydrates only after exercise. When I do this, I am really low energy, moody, and anxious. Need a tasty faux sugar.

Can anyone recommend a low/no carb sugar substitute that doesn't taste artificial and have a bitter aftertaste? I've been using Spenda and I kind of hate it - I know some people think it's great, but to me it tastes too sweet and chemical-y. I'm specifically looking for something that I can bake with (like a low carb cheesecake, for example).

A co-worker claims to have lost 4.5 pounds in the last six days on the South Beach Diet. This person goes on to claim that most people lose around 10 pounds in two weeks, then lose additional weight more slowly. So, is this possible? I think he is just losing water.
