It has come to my attention, via the scale, that I have been taking the "fat is good" aspect of primal eating just a little too literally. I need to reduce calories, and would like to do so as painlessly as possible. Could you please share your recipes and meal suggestions for tasty things that are on the lower end of the fat spectrum? Bonus points for anyone who has found a primal- friendly alternative to the fatty deliciousness of cheese.
I'm on a low-carb diet, but I'm beginning to get bored of a life without pasta, sweets or baked goods. So this weekend I made these low-carb pop-overs with almond flour. They tasted OK, but they had the consistency of rather compact muffins, not the fluffy lightness of pop-overs, and in fact they did not "pop over" the muffin tin but stayed inside. [more inside]

I'm an overweight (technically obese) triathlete who was recently put on a calorie-restricted (1200-1400/day), moderately carb-restricted (100-130 g/day) diet by my doctor(s). They also have me front-loading my calories into breakfast and lunch at the expense of dinner. It's been hard on me in various ways, physically and psychologically -- my training is suffering, and I really miss being able to share a normal dinner with my partner. I'm also on seriously non-optional medication that makes it hard for me to lose weight and, relatedly, has probably made me insulin-resistant. Help me cope. (Psychological beanplating as well as gory metabolic details for nutrition nerds within.) [more inside]
I've done a very strict no carb diet for 3.5 weeks now, and haven't lost any weight, haven't seen any change in clothing fit, never felt particularly terrible (ie never saw a "carb crash"). BF who is eating the same exact diet has visibly shed pounds and looks fantastic. I know women tend to loose weight much slower then men, but this is feeling a little rediculous. Should I stay with the diet? [more inside]

Managing gestational diabetes fairly well by eating paleo/low carb and injecting insulin (tiny dose, rarely) when anticipating higher glucose levels. Now I read pregnant women should load carbs shortly before and during the childbirth itself. I'd like to avoid both a carb crash and hypoglycemia during delivery. I also worry about the baby being hypoglycemic if I have high glucose levels during delivery and I'm getting conflicting info (yes, danger v. no, too short a time to impact baby). So, what to eat leading up to and during delivery?
I'm on a low carbohydrate diet and I love cocktails, so I'm trying to figure out the best was to make a simple syrup replacement that tastes decent and has an ok mouth feel. Have you got a go to recipe that doesn't crystallize or have some funky aftertaste? [more inside]

I'm looking for a satisfying* low-carb protein bar which is also soy-free. Any recommendations? Any bars you hate? I am leaning toward the Biogenesis bars. Also, suggestions for high-protein, low carb items that are quick to fix/pack/take along with me when I need to be out and about are welcome! *I don't expect utter deliciousness, but I'd like something that isn't cardboardy.
