My brother left for Rome, Italy on Monday to do a summer job for a lab there and we (his friends and family) still haven't had any contact from him.
I'm worried that something might have happened to him and his wife and kids are worried sick. Is there any good routes to trying to find him in case he's been in an accident?
I don't have the name of the lab he's working for or I'd just call them :(

I was let go of my job of 12 yrs recently, due to a personal situation. This situation coincided with our annual appraisals and hence the boss decided that it was time to part ways, and I was given the option to submit my resignation with three months notice period.

I was just working on a proofreading file for hours. I closed it, thinking I had been saving it (I'm pretty sure I was saving it!). Then I went to email it , and it's nowhere to be found on my computer. I searched for it. I thought that if you don't save something it will be recovered when you open Word again, but nope. And I can't find it on my computer anywhere. Does anywhere have an idea where it could have gone and how/if I can get it back?!
Thanks!

Pretty please, help me! I sold my car in California in the middle of a move. We completed a bill of sale to be as official as possible, and I told the buyer that I'd mail her the title once the dust settled from my move. Now that I've unpacked, I can't find the title anywhere. The California DMV website lists
some guidelines for replacing a lost title , but I'm still confused. Who's technically the legal owner right now? Would it be easiest for the buyer to fill out this form and check that the title was "not received from prior owner" and get on with it? Or would that incur some sort of penalty for either of us?

I have an album by The Cult called "Electric" that was in Unknown folder in iTunes. I moved it to the proper music group folder in iTunes "The Cult" where all their other albums are. BUT when I open iTunes, it won't show up with the search of The Cult or under their name. I can find particular tracks in iTunes, go an hit Play and it then asks for me to locate that song. There are other screw things going on (like some albums thrown into compilations, but I can probably fix that) but this is the most frustrating. Any ideas? Do I have to go buy Tune Up or some other application? (I am running the newest iTunes on an iMac w/ Snow Leopard)

I saw this film on television in the 70s when I was young; it was broadcast sometime before 1979. Some people are stranded after a snow storm. At one point they discover a car in the snow, and when they look inside the car they see the people in it were frozen to death. I think someone cried out, "Oh, no, it's the professor!" (or something like that). At another point in the film they come across a cabin in the woods and try to open a can of something they find, but they have no can opener. The film was in color, so please don't suggest something in black & white. It may have been made for TV or it may have been an actual film; I remember there being a lot of commercials for it because we had just had the great "Blizzard of 1978" in Boston. Any help finding this film would be great! One person suggested to me it might be "The Untamed" directed by Archainbaud, but it is not that. PLEASE HELP!

I'm looking for a book I read as a pre-teen. It's been years since I read it and I can't recall the name of the writer, or the title of the work. I recall a little of the plot, but not much.
As far as I recall, it was about a girl living in a small town in the east coast who falls into a pit, or cave, something like that, and is saved by a man made of earth and stone.

People who either travel with "gear" (broadly defined) or have to pack "gear" for work--how do you preflight what you're taking, make sure you have it when you go out, and make sure you bring it back when you return? Bonus: how do you label things so that it makes its way back to you if your protocol fails?

I've got a lot of stuff. People like to borrow my stuff. And they sometimes forget whose stuff it is and I never get it back!
I had an idea to custom print my name, email, and phone number on narrow tape (perhaps vinyl based, similar to electrician's tape). Then, I can affix this tape to things that I loan out so that they're easily tracked back to me.
I tried looking around at various shops online, but the options are overwhelming, and they seem to be geared toward packing tape and business applications. All I need is one or two narrow rolls, not an entire box of the stuff! Has anyone done anything like this that can share some of your expertise with me?

Recovering a lost iPad. This afternoon I suffered the grave misfortune of leaving my relatively new iPad 2 in a seatback pocket on an airplane. When I realized what I had done upon arriving in my hotel room, I immediately called the airline and submitted a report. I also attempted to locate the iPad using the Find My iPhone app. Although the app quickly located my other devices, it could not locate the iPad, presumably because the plane was winging its way to another destination. I ordered a remote lock and a message to be sent to the device as soon as it connects, and I went about changing the passwords for services I had used from the device. I have periodically checked the device over the last few hours to see if it shows up, but a few minutes ago,
the iPad disappeared entirely from the list of my devices in the app. What would cause it to disappear? I assume this means I am screwed?
