Lost and Found Photos

I just bought a digital camera at a second hand store and found about 20 of what look like prom pictures. Is there a lost and found photo site where I can post them since I have no way of knowing who these people are or how to find them, but don't want to delete their pics?

I've lost one of my ferrets.

She's lost. So be it. I'm distraught. But that's not what the question is about. My other ferret grew up with her and they're almost a year old, so I'm worried he'll get depressed, and I can't spend hours upon hours with him every day. I'm reluctant to introduce a new ferret to the mix. What should I do? [more inside]

ID a beautifu song - lost in the streets in front of a statue or chapel

I think the song is about two people who lose each other in a crowd in front of a the church, basilica, or statue of a saint. I think the song is named after that saint. This song is hauntingly beautiful, the rhythm twinkles and meanders throughout, and in the middle, any classical melody or rhythm completely lost for a minute, the parts/layers of the music overlapping out of phase. Then the same parts are played together, locked in phase at the end. [more inside]

Severe depression and self-doubt about intelligence and people?

I have been experiencing terrible bouts of depression and anxiety for the past four months or so now. I also have turbulent mood swings, ranging from being content in the morning, and scornfully miserable in the afternoon. I'm not certain what is causing all of this. I'm not an emotionally stable person; always unhappy and anxious. I have lost all desire to fulfill my hobbies, which includes: writing, reading, watching documentaries, deep conversations, watching old films, debating, poetry, social activism, and learning knowledge in general. I do not think I'm intellectual or socially exciting enough, therefore I have abandoned all of my hobbies. [more inside]

Help! Hit the K key in Apple Mail and lost an important email

This makes no sense to me, but I have lost a super important email I just received by accidentally hitting the "K" key while it was highlighted in my Apple Mail inbox. It is my only copy of an important day-long interview for an academic job. I have tried searching Mail by sender and subject, searching my computer for same including searching content, looking in Mail's trash folder. The Finder's trash is empty. I am stumped, and worried. I really don't want to write back to say that I lost the email. Where could it be??

Seeking thank you gift for a stranger who did me a great kindness

Googling "weird camel thing" surprisingly proved fruitless

I am trying to remember the name of a fantasy book I read around 1990 or so. I lost my glasses in the snow. Any tips/tricks on how to find them?

In a freak accident early this morning, my glasses were flung from my face into 8"+ of fresh fluffy snow. I spent a little bit of time digging around trying to find them, but it was limited because I had to get to work. The snow is still falling, and I think we are supposed to get about another 2-3" by the time I am able to get home (where the glasses are, somewhere). I don't have a metal detector available, and this happened on a public street. The glasses are also fairly small and non-descript thin metal frames that are black on the top and silver on the bottom. When I get home, I am planning on going to the general vicinity with a rake and hoping I can grab them that way. What other options can I try? [more inside]

Lost Document

I recently saved a document in Microsoft Word. I closed it, and the next time I opened it, it was blank. I figured I had just forgotten to save or done something stupid, so I re-wrote the document and saved it again. I emailed it to myself for good measure. Next time I opened it, it was blank again. I'm very frustrated, and it was an important document that I would like to recover, if possible, without having to re-write it a third time. Has anyone experienced this situation? Can anyone help me recover my document? I'm desperate.

Who has second thoughts about their dream job?

I really can't figure out what I want to do in my life. And it's scaring the crap out of me. At many times I really thought I knew what I wanted and then when I started working... I didn't, at all! I tried really hard to figure out what to do. I majored in political science, been involved in campaigns, and I thought I would just go to law school. But felt uneasy about the whole thing like it was just something I was supposed to do cause I would be good at it. So I decided to work a bit in a medical field, which was followed by living aboard for a few years. Now I'm dabbling in film and thinking about architecture. All amazing experiences but no closer to a conclusion. I feel super strongly about some careers and then realize I only feel strongly about those things because I admire the people in those fields and not necessarily the field itself. Does anyone have a similar story? Any conclusions? Can anyone help?
