I live alone in West LA. I have a tiny car with no trunk to speak of. I would like to start shopping for some used furniture, but it won't fit into my not-trunk. Everywhere else I've lived, I've known friends or family who have access to pickups, SUVs, etc and coordinated with them when I needed furniture moved. Not here. How do people manage this single-handed? [more inside]
Where should I look for toys that I wouldn't find in toy stores outside of such a large, diverse city? I'm also interested in watching the Venice Basketball League championship game tomorrow. What do I need to know about that? [more inside]
I'm a guy in Los Angeles. I need some sexy, funky, S&M/leather-friendly, ankle-height black boots for rocking out on go-go platforms, cruising around at Burning Man, and generally pairing up with scandalous outfits at club nights. My budget could be up to $350 for the right pair. In-store only, because I'd really like to try them on. Where shall I go?
Where (besides Manic Panic, ugh) can I buy funky, semi-permanent hair dyes in Los Angeles? Preferably today? [more inside]
We'll be in L.A. for 2-3 weekdays in mid-March, and while one of our evenings is scheduled, we have no idea what to do with the rest of our time. We'll be staying in or near Hollywood, and won't have a car, but don't mind taking transit. We're especially looking for suggestions for one really very nice, splurge-y place for dinner, as well as great inexpensive places to eat. Also interested in: coffee-snob coffee; fancy cocktails; craft beer; fun/interesting/unique places to shop; anything else that seems interesting. We also really like live shows (comedy/improv/podcast/music), but most of the L.A. shows we know about are on the weekend. And I'm planning to go to Jenette Bras for a fitting, but I'd love suggestions for any other bra shops that carry sizes in the G+ range.
I once wandered into a store selling vintage steel road frames converted into fixed-gear bikes. I think I was in the Silverlake area, but it could have been Los Feliz or Echo Park (I had been exploring LA all that day with a free TAP Card and wasn't 100% oriented). Does anyone know what store this might have been, or where I could find a similar store in the LA area? [more inside]
Where can I buy a counter-depth refrigerator in Los Angeles today? All attempts to date have ended in rivers of sorrow. [more inside]
Hello savvy LA lady shoppers, male or female! My sister's boyfriend is visiting LA and would like to scope out some local lady stores/boutiques (clothes, jewelry, accessories) for a gift for my sister. He doesn't have a car, is in Venice, and can get to Santa Monica. Any suggestions for good places to hit?
You live in Los Angeles; you travel to visit out-of-state relatives. Where (in town) do you go to find gifts? What do you take them?

What is the best (outlet) shopping between the Los Angeles area and Los Vegas? My friends want to stop at one place and spend a few hours shopping.
Where are the art and craft galleries in the Los Angeles area? I'm looking for galleries that sell art, jewelry, pottery and so on that's not mass-produced, but not crazy expensive fine art either. I'd love to find something like Portland's Real Mother Goose. Nice stuff, not too experimental or edgy and perfect for buying gifts for my parents.
Recommendation for a trustworthy digital piano dealer in the greater Los Angeles area? [more inside]
I've quite improbably wrangled an invite to an exclusive post-Oscar party tomorrow night. This is not my usual scene (big understatement). What's appropriate attire, and where can a petite but not skinny girl shop for such attire in LA? [more inside]
Angelenos who ride the Red Line: What are your favorite stops and why? Which ones are the best in terms of being within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc? I just moved into an apartment two blocks from the Vermont/Wilshire stop, and would like to take full advantage of the Metro rail system - especially the Red Line. I'm originally from Pasadena, so I've already seen everything over there. I also have a car, but would like to avoid the urban gauntlet of LA's streets as much as possible.

I'm moving into a new place and beginning the search for furniture. Anyone have any favorite sources of good deals on good furniture in LA? How close to a gigantic selection of good quality/looking stuff at garage-sale prices can one get in this city? [more inside]
Is there a record store somewhere in downtown L.A., near the 7th St. metro stop? For various complicated reasons, I'm stuck in downtown and desperately need CDs! [more inside]
