I spy with my little eye

What do you look at/notice, as you wander through the world, that I probably ignore? The origin of this question was my teaching students how to recognize the seven border patterns (sometimes called "frieze patterns"). After I taught this the first time, I suddenly realized that there are border patterns all over the place; I just never noticed them.

This made me wonder what people who are different from me pay attention to as they wander around. If you are a designer, what do you see that I ignore? If you are a plumber, what do you see that I ignore?

I think this isn't chatfilter, but delete if you think it is.

rock rock the planet rock...dont stop

I'm riding the Salt Lake Century this weekend and am looking for some good full length electro mixes for the shuffle. Electro seems to be a lot better than 4/4 music to ride to. It gets even better when mixed with its offshoots (bass, jungle, freestyle, etc). I've already exhausted my DJ Fizz collection. Bonus for pre-90s electro and miami bass.

Help me look at good looking women without guilt.

Why do good looking women make me nervous and guilty when looking at them? I have been noticing that speaking or interacting with a good looking woman makes me nervous as hell. While if they were average or even ugly I don't get nervous! Even looking at a woman in a certain setting, makes me guilty if she was good looking, but if she was average I don't have a problem.
It is almost like looking at a disfiguered person, I try not to look in order not to make them feel bad. Same guilt comes to me when looking at a sexy or cute woman! Maybe for different reasons that I don't know.
Is this something common or a well known behavior? And how do I get over it?

Looking for a

8 unit condo in Jersey City needs an energy (HVAC, heating) consultant to look at our boiler and heating system and advise us on how to lower our heating bills. We are keen to consider green options but economy is the main criterion. Thank you for your recommendations and advice. In our building we are currently collecting $$ to replace the oil boiler that fires our central heating. I'm a little concerned given the price of oil and want to be certain that our building is optimized for energy conservation. Do you know any consultant/expert who can survey our building and heating system and make recommendations?

Its an old building, the thermostat is in the hallway, the radiators are vertically integrated with no control valves. Which means that in Winter some apartments are overheated and leave windows open and some are cold.

We'd certainly consider going as green as possible and (before you mention it) have already looked at revofuel though its a bit young at this point in terms of available resources. Thanks for any recommendations on where to find the expert we're looking for.

Crawfish crises!

Um.. now that I have 20 pounds of crawfish, what do I do with them? Friends were going to have a crawfish boil but had to go out of town unexpectedly so they just dropped twenty pounds of live crawfish on my door. I've never had a boil, never even been to one, and have NO clue as to what to do now. I've found some recipes online, but they all differ so much and all of them start from when you're ready to cook them. There's no way I can cook them today so a friend said I had to get them on ice to keep them alive until tomorrow. I busted open the sack, put them in a cooler, left the drain open, and poured ice all over them. Now what?
