iPad 2 in London on Friday - help me acquire this beautiful beast.

iPad 2 purchase in London: the iPad 2 is coming out here on Friday 25 March. I would like to get one before I leave London the following week. Can you offer me any advice on the best plan to get hold of one (also, it's for Mrs HopStop and thus, must be white which will probably make it a wee bit harder). [more inside]

What show(s) should I see in London?

I will be in London on business in late April, and would like to see at least one play or musical while I'm there. Can you please recommend a good (or critically-acclaimed) play or musical, or a website where I can find recommendations? I'll be there alone and will be looking for individual tickets - is it likely I'll be able to get singles for sold-out shows on the day of? Thanks for your help!

How does UK traffic law work in terms of speeding tickets?

How does UK traffic law work regarding being responsible for speeding tickets for rental cars? I have received a photo of the car that was rented under my name and that, on the Avis papers, I was the driver. However you cannot make out any kind of face or person driving the vehicle in the "photographic evidence" that the traffic cam took. In the UK, am I liable for the cost of the fine, regardless of whether the actual driver at that time can be proven from their photo? I.e. because I hired the car, I must pay the fine? Would there be any chance between the Road Safety Unit and Avis that I would be in more trouble if I can't remember if I was the driver at that time, the photo doesn't help, and I don't know who of the people travelling with me was driving at that time either (even though they weren't registered drivers for the rental)?

Crime fiction about London?

I'll be spending three months in London this spring, and I'm looking for more novels or stories--mysteries, thrillers, or other variations of crime fiction--that offer a really great sense of London but that aren't historical fiction. Barbara Vine's King Solomon's Carpet, the Sherlock Holmes stories, and Dickens's Bleak House all work, but I don't much care for Anne Perry novels or Bruce Alexander's Blind Justice, for example. Suggestions for crime fiction that gives a great sense of London?

Intensive driving course = stupid idea?

I have to take two weeks off work in the next two months, and thought it would be a great idea to learn to drive. London's little known Japanese gems

I'm looking for a small, local Japanese restaurant, anywhere in London, with amazing, traditional Japanese food. In New York there are a wealth of late-night quiet Japanese places where you can get more than just sushi, sashimi, tempura, rolls and so on.
