Londoners, I want to know about events listings websites, promoter and venue Facebook pages, curated blogs, web forums, and whatever else is out there to find out what's going on in this town in music/arts/culture in general.

I've started really getting into
Caravan Palace. [a] What else should I be listening to? (Last.fm has a very few good suggestions, but quickly degenerates into rap, R&B or other blandness) [b] Where in London (UK) can I go to dance to this stuff?

What musicians would you consider to be
London musicians? I'm not talking about people who have merely passed through London to do a few gigs or record an album -- otherwise, you'd have to list everybody who ever recorded at Abbey Road! Instead, I'm looking for folks whose work grew out of the city's cultural scene in some real way, whether London natives like Dizzee Rascals or transplants like George Frideric Handel.
More broadly, what styles of music originated (entirely or partially) in London? I know about grime and dubstep--what others are there?

If you play a musical instrument and live in a city, where do you go to practise? I want to start playing clarinet again, but will be living in apartments or shared houses in crowded cities (currently London, UK) for the forseeable future. Where can I practise that won't drive my neighbours absolutely crazy?

Avantgarde London: I want to take my girlfriend out to a biggish music/sound performance/event. I want it to be avantgarde, unexpected and unique - the kind of night that would send most music lovers screaming into the distance. I am thinking maybe opera, but I know NOTHING about it. And, as I said, I want
avantgarde opera in
London. Where do I start?

I sent my supposedly authentic Italian music manuscripts to Sotheby's of London (after their music manuscripts expert authenticated them in person in NYC) to be auctioned. After they received them in London, they told me they weren't sure if they were authentic and they wouldn't auction them. Problem is, it's going to cost me a lot to get them back, and it already cost quite a bit to mail them to London. More details within.
