Datamining of my local filesystem

I would like to harvest file-system activity from my operating system on an ongoing basis so that in the future I can look back on the data to see what files I was working on at a given time. I'm using windows 7. Basically something like the web history in a browser, but for my local files and applications. [more inside]

Teach me about logging operations!

How, physically, does clearcutting happen? What sort of equipment is used to cut down trees on steep hillsides? How is lumber and paper so inexpensive given all the work it takes? How do companies decide what sections to cut? (Some of the patterns cut are really odd!) Also, since different companies often own sections of timber accessed from the same (privately owned?) mainline, how do access deals play out?

How do I prevent a webpage from logging me of?

There's a webpage that keeps logging me off for inactivity. Signing in again is a hassle. Is there some snazzy piece of software that anybody knows about that will periodically "poke" the page or something to keep it open indefinitely? Thanks to any who can help.

My nephew believes his gmail and facebook accounts have been hacked by a coworker. Hacker may have had physical access to nephew's Mac laptop. Is there something other than a keystroke logger that we should be looking for? [more inside]
