Is there a way to use say google maps to hone [first time using that word in a sentence feels good] in on a specific location for business or even job opportunities?
Do you know of a WordPress Instagram plugin that will allow me to show together in a single gallery all images that are tagged as a certain location OR that use a certain hashtag? To restate: it's all the images that are marked with a certain location, and all the images that are marked with a certain hashtag. I'm trying to avoid installing and testing dozens of plugins to see if any do this.
I'm in a caring profession which is being cut and slashed repeatedly by government financial cuts here in the UK. I'm tired of having a precarious life where I'm not sure where I'll be living and what I'll be doing from one month to the next. Being in the process of transitioning male-to-female, I'm looking to build a little more stability into my life, so that I can plan a real future for myself rather than just surviving on a short-term basis. Help me build a future! [more inside]
Only a few graduate programs have invited me to interviews. One of the programs isn't highly ranked or well-known and isn't in the greatest location (let's just say it would be unusual for someone from my state to go...where? THERE?), but I need to think of a compelling explanation for why I would choose their program over others during the interview. To be frank, they'll probably develop as good a reputation as any other, but there's nothing special about their program that would make people rush halfway across the country. Still, how do I avoid sounding desperate or contrived during the interview?
I'm not sure which I would rather as far as living situations, so I would like to gather opinions on it. [more inside]
Facebook started automatically adding my current location to my posts. The location is guessed from my IP, I think, because I have nothing listed as my "current city" or "home town" or "other places lived" in my profile. I'm posting from my PC. It's freaking me out and I want to make it stop, but how? [more inside]
After lots and lots of changes is my life, due to medical reasons I find myself making concrete plans a year in advance again. At about this time of next year I intend to be moving back to the country where I first saw the light of day, which I haven't visited since I was 12. Help me find a place where life will be enjoyable for me. [more inside]
My husband and I want to take our will-then-be-10-month-old somewhere for 3-4 weeks in July to immerse ourselves in a different culture. We really want to head back to Japan, but it’ll be disgustingly hot in July, so where should we go instead? [more inside]

We are working on simple machine language in computer science for data manipulation. All the other problems I have gotten through but this last one. Here is the problem: "Write a short program in machine language to perform requested activity. Assume the program is placed in memory starting at address 00- -If the value stored in memory location 44 is 00, then place the value 01 in memory location 46; otherwise, put the value FF in memory location 46." Lots of questions inside DX Working with very basic Op-code and Operand setups. [more inside]
I live in a place with cold gray snowy winters. Despite no family history on either side, both my kids (1 and 4) have asthma that flares when they have a virus. There is still hope that they will outgrow it since they don't have symptoms when they aren't sick. The problem is that this winter they have had viruses All. The. Time. My mom keeps telling me that if I move somewhere warmer the kids won't be sick so much. I have great difficulty believing this and am curious what the hive mind has to say. [more inside]

I rarely check Google Location but it's always fascinating when I do. I just did a bit of travelling around Florida and am perplexed by the readings. Suddenly I appear to leap from the Florida Keys to California and back again in the space of a couple of hours. Obviously I didn't do this. My phone wasn't on the whole time - it died around when I got 'back' to the Everglades. I've put up a screengrab of this time-bending excursion - any insights as to how this happened are most welcome.
We’re looking at a move in the next three to five years. Right now we live in a very conservative area of North Dakota, overwhelmed by an oil boom and all the bad that goes with it. It's time for a change. [more inside]

I know that most cities have a reason for being where they are(near a river, natural harbor etc) but I'm curious about cities that are actually in poorly chosen locations or make no sense at all. I'm sure several of the southwest cities may meet this bill but also curious about global cities too.
I've been working on this little project called CheckIn, which is supposed to be a quick and easy to use Foursquare app that let's you check in quickly and adds interesting features like check in reminders (and instant checkins in iOS 8 - currently working on notification actions in my working build). Can anyone suggest a relatively quiet place to study(must have power socket and wifi) without loud music and not too cold? In NYC, Brooklyn or Manhattan. Preferrably can stay for long hours. NYU library is too cold due to AC temp too low. I already wear long pant and fleece jacket, just cant sit still without chills. Thanks.
I value my privacy, and knowing that people I don't really know can easily discover my current physical location makes me feel queasy inside. How can I use the internet/social without basically shouting to the rest of the internet "this is where my body is right NOW!"? Details inside. [more inside]
This is essentially a legal question. Is Fort Lee New Jersey within the Port District of New York and New Jersey? The Port District is the area which the two states described the area that the Port Authority would be responsible for controlling on port matters when they set up the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. I want to know if Fort Lee, New Jersey, is within that area. The exact description, which I have no idea how to plot is below. I'm hoping someone can just point me to a document proving it or a map of the Port District with either Fort Lee in or out of the district. Or its so obvious I don't even need to have a map. I'm looking for a tool that will let me have a map interface open (Google Maps, OSM, Bing, I don't mind), click on a location, enter a brief comment, then have that data (lat/long, comment, timestamp) stored for later retrieval - something like a Google Docs spreadsheet would be ideal. Are older phones or phones designed for poorer countries any less susceptible to spying than the latest Apple, Google or Android models? I've read about CEO's looking for the very old brick phones because since they don't have the sophisticated technology of the modern phones, they're harder to monitor or track. I understand the phones w/o apps are clearly more secure regarding third parties because they aren't sending personal data to companies. But what the government and everything else; voice, location via cell towers, SMS; the very basics.

I have a security concern related to using app's such as Grindr that pull location data. I've had a couple people "stalk me" to my specific location in the past. I would like to meet people in my "area" on these kinds of apps - but I want to set my actual location to somewhere else in the city. I had this working on my old jailbroken 3GS. But now that I have a new phone (IOS7) it would seem I'm screwed. Any ideas?
While signing on with my VPN software recently I noticed that my ISP's physical location has changed. I live in Cleveland and when ever I would use my VPN software, as I do a few times a week, there is a map that tells me where my ISP resides. Recently, after years the map now shows that my home ISP is now in Kansas, however searching for my ISP address on various websites, it says my ISP is in Pennsylvania as well. Confused. I am aware that my home ISP changes frequently but it has always been in Cleveland. I have rebooted my modem and router a few times and it still reads the location in Kansas. Any Ideas?
I'm in the process of finishing the first version of my iOS minimalist Foursquare app. I'm wondering what is the best way to get beta testers for my app. I simply need feedback and ideas for improvement/changes to the app. The app is currently not in the App Store, but I want to make sure I get everything right, just before iOS 7 hits. What is the best way to do so?
Are there ways to "cross" or "join" data results in Google Analytics? Just as a for instance, I have a list of Referrals and a list of audience Location demographics. Is there a way to join those two lists, so that I know where site referrals are visiting from? (Generally, are there resources which list "pro tips" for getting the most out of Analytics?)

Paramount Pictures will be filming a movie on the street where I own a retail business.
