Where oh where is that bloomin' car?

How do I find my black car by moonlight in a field of 1000 irregularly parked cars? Lo-tech solutions preferred. So I went to a festival last year for just a day and parked my car, as directed, in a nearby field. I *thought* I had a reasonable idea where it was in relation to the gate. On leaving the festival, gone midnight, that same field looked totally different -- more cars, only moonlight to see by, a handful of trees as landmarks. Took me about an hour to track it down. I'm going to the same festival this weekend and would appreciate any & all suggestions, thanks.

Locating a Person from 1946

I am looking for a person who lived in North Hollywood, CA in 1946. I have a specific address, but have exhausted all methods that I can think of (i.e., online databases, city records, interview of neighbors, etc.). Any other ideas?

@#$?! crappy browser history

I'm looking for a website/online store that sells stickers for the back of your ipod, a bigger similar sticker that covers the top of your laptop, and a collection of small storage tins that also serve as refrigerator magnets... I'm pretty sure that was the sole extent of of they sold. The primary sticker for both ipod and laptop design was a white flower design (looks like vaguely like this, only more exacting) over a bright pastel colored background. I'm pretty sure it was linked off of some popular website I visted in the last month or so that's also likely to be frequented by you guys. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

NYC Hotel

I Need to Find a Hotel in NYC i so screwed up [mi] I have a trip to NYC with my friend, arriving 11/18, departing 11/22. It was left to me to make the hotel reservations. Unfortunately I procrastinated until, well about 2 hours ago. As you can imagine, I'm having difficulty.

It's been recommended to us to stay in soho or the lower eastside, between 14th & canal. My friend has a friend that lives in Brooklyn and works in the lower eastside. The only sightseeing requirement that my friend has is to see the Statue of Liberty. I want to shop. I'd like to go to the Nuyorican, 236 east 3rd st, avenues b&c. Otherwise, we've been playing it by ear. So much so, that I totally blew off making hotel reservations. Stupid.

The three hotels that were recommended to us, Chelsea, Off Soho, Gershwin, and Howard Johnson are all booked. And, I can't find a hotel-booking website: hotels.com, tripadvisor, expedia, travelocity, that allows me to search using lower eastside, soho as a category.

I'm totally open to other areas of the City, but I have no idea where to start.

Can anyone point me to hotels in that general area, hopefully less than $225 per night?

Help me find these books on primitive navigation & diaspora

Okay. I have two books from my past that I would very much like to track down... but I can't recall the titles. The first was a well-illustrated book for young readers that talked about "primitive" navigation --- a specific image I remember is their describing how Polynesian seafarers would watch the shape of the waves to discern where islands lay, and the image was of an island and showed how the waves would change shape as they went around.

This book was from back between 1980 and 1985 (or thereabouts).

The second book came out between 1995 and 2000... it had a black cover and was called "tribe" or something like that, and talked about the various diasporas --- and their commonalities. It spoke of the Jewish diaspora and the Chinese diaspora, the Irish diaspora and even the nascent Mormon diaspora.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking for a product that performs the same function as the "page" button on my cordless landline.

I'm looking for a product that performs the same function as the "page" button on my cordless landline. Press a button on the base, and the lost phone starts beeping until you find it. Ideally this is something small enough to attach to objects like keychains, remote controls, wallets, small digicams (RFID?). Anybody ever heard of anything like this?
