The last time this question was asked was back in 2009, so just wanted to see if anyone had any advice or recommendations for getting a super old LJ printed into some sort of keepsake book. [more inside]
I used to be on LJ and loved it, making online and RL friends until I began editing myself to silence because my ex was not keen on what I wrote etc. Now I'd like to talk to people again but how's that done in 2015? Twitter, Tumblr, Myspace? I want to be able to write short random posts, but what I miss most is the interaction and sense of community, reading a group of friends and having conversations in comments and messages. Facebook feels like shouting across a mall.
Due to some nostalgia from my high school days when it seemed like everyone had a LiveJournal, I'd love to start reading more of that type of personal blogging, but it seems a little hard to come by these days. I'm looking for suggestions for blogs (could be on any platform: Tumblr, LJ, et cet) that are regularly updated and used mainly for personal, introspective, "journal-y" writing. [more inside]

Is there a way to tell who is reading my LiveJournal page, either by LJ account name or IP? Does it make a difference if they have friended me (but not vice versa) or whether I have a pay account? I know about the "My Guests" tab, but if I'm understanding things correctly that only tells me about people who are logged in and have opted to be "visible".

What are some chatty, intelligent, funny personal blogs that I should be following? I used to love reading about people's daily lives on Livejournal, as well as knowing what music, books and films they were enjoying, but I haven't been back to LJ in years, and most of my friends have stopped updating. Something like a more regularly updated Defective Yeti is what I'm looking for. [more inside]

What is triggering these odd Google ads? The CMS question below is 3/4ths right-wing ads, the LiveJournal question is employment misconduct ads, the 55-65 yo question is all global warming. Any thoughts what words are triggering each of those?
I've got a journal in LiveJournal that I want to download to my home computer prior to deleting. The tool on the LiveJournal site will do this, but only one month at a time. Is there any tool that can handle more than a single month? I'd prefer the XML format, since I might want to do something with them at a later date.

So I am sick of livejournal, and I want to start a blog independent of any form sites. Also, I am interested in learning to create backends and architecture for sites similar to Mefi.
