Back in the proverbial day (2006/2007), the TV channel MHD (later called Palladia, LATER called MTV Live) aired a Gorillaz concert called "Demon Days: Live in Harlem". It was filmed at the Apollo on New Year's Eve, I believe. They performed the Demon Days album straight through, with cartoon visuals. Dennis Hopper narrated one song. I would pay strip club-style SWEATY FISTFULS OF CASH to obtain a decent video of this (digital format is ideal, but DVD is also fine). Any ideas?
I am in search of a solution that would allow me to live stream an event. Snowflake details inside. [more inside]
I thought this would be a simple thing to ask about and search, and a common need with an obvious solution. But I can't seem to get the lingo right. I'll be giving a presentation with a laptop and a projector for slides, but also want to add live action video of me doing stuff on the table or podium, within about a 13x19" area…using what? An iTouch/iPad in a holder/tripod? A doc camera? A GoPro? Is this what a webcam is/does? All wired, btw, no wifi or internet available. Help? TIA!
I am looking for examples of musical performances in which the performer uses a natural break or pause in the song and stretches it out to the breaking point creating tension for dramatic effect before diving back into the song.
Recently I've been all about Sam Cooke's Live at the Harlem Square Club, Etta James Rocks the House, and James Brown Live at the Apollo. Can you recommend other live soul or R&B recordings that have the same kind of raw energy?
I'm looking for a camcorder or camcorder/microphone setup to record my band's practices and shows for uploading to YouTube. [more inside]
We're going to a gig tonight that is massively sold out … and we're on the guest list. Are guest lists completely at the whim of the venue, or are there general guidelines that apply to most venues? We want to enjoy the show, but don't want to be “that guy” who ruins it for those nearby. [more inside]
I saw a reasonably popular rock band in a smallish venue a few months back and the sound was atrocious. It was all bass and drums and I could barely hear the guitar, keyboards or vocals. This band in no way plays bass heavy music. Is the band or the venue at fault? [more inside]
Starting package of gear for live electronic music? [more inside]
The band uses Ableton Live for backing tracks (drummer uses a click track - metronome). From the arrangement view (Live's VSTs are used also) is there a way to place video in a track and have it stream from a Macbook while the audio streams to a soundcard? If not, what is the easiest way to play videos in sync with the backing tracks? [more inside]
I'm a drummer in an indie-rock band with a 5-piece kit who is looking to expand my setup to include a drum sampling pad. I want something that has unique percussion sounds (not just cheesy electronic beats), built-in effects, plenty of storage space to upload my own samples, and the ability to record and loop live drumbeats. Any advice? [more inside]
Windows Live Mail ate my everything! [more inside]
I recently upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7. I'm trying to find and download gadgets for my desktop. When I go to the Windows Live page, I only see gadgets compatible with Vista. Why does Windows Live think I'm still running Vista?
Which areas in and around Brussels (in Belgium) would you recommend to live for a couple thinking of moving there for a year or so?

I am using Windows 7, my Windows Live Mail acts fine until I have been on it a few minutes and then I cannot get it to send my Outbox mail and when I try to sync it I get error message "internet not connected" - if I disconnect from internet and reconnect my Outbox sends it then. I'm trying to identify a Japanese noise artist who uses analog electronics (light bulbs, motors, record player based sequencer, etc.) to create really loud and grating music. [more inside]
Ableton Live for beginners: This weekend I'm going to have a couple of days where I get to play with someone's copy of Live, which looks like a very cool piece of software. I'm hoping to make the most of this chance but (a) the last time I made electronic music I programmed SID registers by hand in 6510 assembler in the 80s, and (b) don't know diddly about Live, oh yes, and (c) I don't know diddly about music, either. Is there a decent guide -- in print or online -- that would help me sit down in front of the thing and maybe plink out a couple of really awful songs? [more inside]

Long shot: Anyone know what site this was? It's an old musician, kinda kenny rogers looking, who used to be moderately big I think, but now has people play at his house and films it. It's kind of like La Blogotheque, but american. [more inside]
