Is there a spreadsheet app that's geared more toward creating sortable lists of stuff? I know I can do this with Apple's Numbers app, but it feels so clunky. I don't want column "A" "B" "C" and so forth. I want to name the columns, just as the columns in iTunes are named (song, album, rating, etc). I don't want to right click a column and choose from a list of options to choose "Sort Ascending/Descending". I want to click the column title and have it sort based on that column, just as iTunes does when in song view, or in a playlist. Click song, the list is sorted by song. Click album the list is sorted by album. I'm not working with any calculations. I want to create easily sortable lists of my stuff... like wine!

We currently have a number of different list serves, google groups, yahoo groups, and meetup groups in our town, all involving family activities and community events. The different groups cover different neighborhoods, and there is a lot of overlap. I am wondering if there is some kind of service or tool that could be an giant umbrella for all of our groups, with subgroups according to interest, age of kids, neighborhoods, schools etc.

My kids (a boy and a girl) are now five years old, and my wife or I read to them every night before bed. I'd like to start reading larger books to them which we can stretch out throughout a week or more, by reading them a chapter a night. Please help me put together a great reading list of age-appropriate books that will capture their imaginations and inspire happy dreams.

I am new to this so this may be a very basic question. I am starting a mailing list of about 1000 people with 3-4 subgroups. I want to structure it so that people working for me can design and send out campaigns but I want to find a way by which they can't download the mailing list and share it with others or use it for purposes other than my campaigns. Is there a way to do this?
If not in MailChimp can I do it in another software?

I love reading lists with exquisite explanations of the things on the list. For example
Time's list of the 100 best novels of all time or top ten lists that have descriptions of why the included items are deserving of being on the list. Could I get some more lists with this kind of breakdown?

Is there any way to make the new iTunes tighter and more minimalist? For example, I want my podcast and artist lists to be like the small-font, compact lists they used to be. Similar to the column browser, but on the side, NOT the top (which is all kinds of stupid up there). Basically, I want to see as many artists as possible with as little scrolling as possible. Any add-on or script or setting I'm overlooking that could take care of this, and perhaps other inefficiencies of the new iTunes?

Where's the best place online to gather simple reference lists and charts to transfer to my Kindle 2, likely as PDFs or monospaced text? Stuff like US presidents and World Series winners, with enough basic info on each line to fit the screen's width. Is there a site that specifically has stuff like this for the Kindle? Google searches for "Kindle reference "and "Kindle lists" don't really help. Thanks.

Google seems to have changed their 'reply to all' feature recently for lists with a 'reply-to' email address specified. Now when you click 'reply all' it sends an email to the person who sent the mail as well as to the list.
I'm on a list where like 90% of the people use gmail and it's causing a problem, because some people habitually click 'reply-all' and some people usually click just 'reply'. What happens is, I'll click 'reply all' to an email, and some other person will click only 'reply' to mine and the reply will go back to me personally, instead of the list.
Is there a way to revert this behavior?

I'm going through a spreadsheet or a hand written list which requires me to check off each item as it's completed (common boring, repetitive work). I find that the process of switching back to that original list and checking/crossing out/deleting each item as it's done is the most time consuming part due to the context switch (having to move your eyes to a different interface/screen/paper). Are there any tricks (ruling out additional data entry to consolodate the data into a single interface) to minimize or eliminate this inefficiency?
