List of new businesses in CO...should I fork over the dough or keep looking?

I need a list of new businesses/incorporations in Colorado. Is buying one my only option? I'm working on a project that requires an up-to-date list of the newest business filings in Colorado. I'm trying to harness Google in my hunt for such a list, but my luck seems to be failing me. Hours of exhaustive searching have only yielded direct mail companies that want money for a list of new business filings and incorporations.

I've used the Secretary of State's business database search, but it times out and won't return the information I need.

Anyone have ideas for alternative ways to find out about new business filings in Colorado, or should I suck it up and pay for one? If I do end up forking over some cash, can you recommend a reputable vendor?

English listing of artists from promotional video of Chinese 2008 Olympics?

Specifically, I'd like to know the artists from 2:59, 3:24, and 4:00.. but I'm sure a listing of everyone would be helpful to more than just myself ^_^

Brute Force White List Determination

I am at a new job with restricted internet access. They have a list of white listed sites, but no one seems to know what sites are on the list, and I can't ask anyone because the company uses a third party solution and their website doesn't have a list of the sites..

Is there a program that will determine what sites are on the white list by brute force?

PM Software with emphasis on task-tracking

Suggestions on task-tracking/project management software for small teams with multiple projects? The primary requirement is that a superuser can assign tasks and receive status and percent-completed updates.

A friend of mine who owns a small business says task management is his biggest nightmare. He has employees, contractors, and vendors across the country. He has a hard time of keeping up with his team members' responsibilities and actions. With some good task-management processes he said his business will be a thousand times more efficient.

Ideally, tasks can be assigned and reassigned to people. A GANTT chart would be nice but is not essential. My friend would like a dashboard view of what people have (left) to do, and what's been done.

These people are non-techies if that matters. They build expensive widgets, each widget is its own project.

An iPhone-optimized interface would be great since the owners use them. Free is nice but he's willing to pay. I also have the option to host any software on a LAMP server.

Google yields nozbe, basecamp, zoho, etc. I'd love to hear suggestions and experiences.

sorry if this has been beaten to death on ask already but I'm more interested in the group task-management views, none of the earlier posts highlight that

Help me make a list of questions for prospective Chicago landlords!

I'm compiling a list of questions to ask prospective landlords when viewing their properties in Chicago next week. Help me make sure I'm asking everything I should be! Here's what I have so far:

-Total cost of monthly rent
-Is heat included?
-Pets allowed? (I have a cat)
-Can I install a satellite dish? (I have DirectTV)
-Central air conditioning?
-What's the laundry situation? (in unit, in building, free/coin-op?)

I see some apartments list "cable ready" -- does this mean some places aren't wired for cable? (In case I can't install a satellite, or decide to go with cable for Internet.)

What else am I missing?

FWIW, I'm moving from out-of-state and have only a few days to find a place. I'll be craigslisting/walking it for the first two days, then going to an apartment finder as a last resort. Budget: <$1200/m.

What program lets you rate many things by comparing two at a time?

Help me find a program/web app that sorts lists by asking you to compare two items at a time. I'm pretty sure I've actually seen this program (web site? Excel sheet?) somewhere, but I only remember the basic concept.

It works like this: You type in/import a list of things (e.g. book titles). Then the program asks you "Which do you like better, X or Y?" Then, "Which do you like better, Y or Z?" And so on and so on. Eventually it spits out your list, but now it's ordered according to your preferences (from favorite to least favorite).

Does anyone know where I can find this... sorter thingy?

Smallest Number of Words To Be Deemed A Dictionary?

LogosFilter: Could a blog entry that contains two words and their definitions be consistent with the definition of a dictionary? In looking up with word dictionary, I most often find something along the lines of "a collection of words.." as far as quantity, but nothing further than that besides "a selection of words" or "a list of words" which to me would be at minimum, two. Is two of something a collection? How many of something must one have before it is deemed a collection?

I feel like I'm eating oil for breakfast

What are the top 3 things I can do this year to avoid consuming non-renewable resources? I have given myself a practically impossible goal of not purchasing or consuming any products or services that have used oil, coal, or natural-gas resources during production, distribution, or development. I really don't expect to meet this goal any time soon. However, over the next year I'd like to make three big changes to my lifestyle to support this goal.

So, what are the top three things that an average upper-middle-class family in the US can do to avoid using non-renewable resources, particularly oil, coal, and natural gas? Financial cost is somewhat of a concern, so I'd like to the total cost to less than say $50,000k US. However, the bigger bang for the buck, the better.

How to alphabetize a list while ignoring articles?

Can I alphabetize data in Excel (or elsewhere) while ignoring the articles "the", "a" and "an"? I am a DJ, and I would like to have a printed-out list of all the songs I have so people can approach my DJ table, flip through the list and make requests. So far I've made up a playlist of all my songs in iTunes, exported it as a text file, and imported it into Excel as a .csv file. I only want columns for "Artist Name" and "Song Title", so I delete all the other columns. Then I sort my list alphabetically, first by Artist Name and then by Song Title.

The problem is that artist names or song titles that begin with "The", "A" or "An" get sorted under "T" or "A", and I don't want them to. For instance, I want "The Beatles" to be sorted under "B" and "A Tribe Called Quest" to be sorted under "T". I could manually go through iTunes and change all my song and artist names that begin with "the", "a" or "an", but that would take some time and I'm hoping there's a way to do this in Excel or elsewhere.

I found this web app called The Alphabetizer, but it doesn't seem to be able to ignore the definite article "the", and it counts the words "some" and "any" as indefinite articles when I don't want it to.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Within religious traditions which involve reincarnation to or from various animal forms, have any religious scholars created hierarchical lists of the known beings which one could potentially get reincarnated as? Like:

phpList: seriously, wtf?

phpList: seriously, wtf? I develop a website for a non-profit, and they requested I set up phpList on the server so they can send out newsletters.

Everything went ok (eventually), I can now send emails and recipients will get them. Eventually.

I sent a bunch of emails as tests on Sat., copying them to both my gmail and yahoo accounts. phpList's queue shows that it sends them within a second.

However, I don't receive them to my email accounts until, at a minimum, a few hours later. Some of them were still showing up this morning, 2 days later!

I am a pro. web developer, but don't know that much about email servers and such. Have other people had this experience with phpList? Do yahoo and gmail give delivering these emails a low priority or what? And where exactly are they for the two days between phpList "sending" them and them showing up in my inbox?

I am a bit worried that my client might want to send newsletters with time-sensitive info. A few hours is ok, but two days is ridiculous.

Any ideas or alternatives?
thanks!

Help with my high-metabolism food shopping list

What are some sample meal plans or food lists for a high-metabolism, frequent small meal diet? Looking for specific ideas for the "eat 5-6 times a day" routine. I've been reading a lot about the benefits of eating less, more often. My eating habits as of late have been atrocious (lots of heavy dine-out foods and snacking in between). I can see the benefits of eating smaller portions designed to keep your metabolism working to your advantage (I think I'm subconsciously sabotaging my metabolism!).

So I ask your help in finding specific food shopping lists and food plans to help me get in the routine of eating this way. A sample of what I'm looking for:

• 7:30 a.m.—1/2 cup cooked oatmeal; one cup skim milk; one slice of whole wheat toast with one tablespoon peanut butter; one cup of blueberries
• 10 a.m.—8 ounces of non-fat yogurt with a tablespoon of walnuts or flax seeds
• 12:30 p.m.—Large spinach salad (two cups) topped with carrots, radishes, onion, cucumber and two ounces of tuna (packed in water), a teaspoon of olive oil and a tablespoon of vinegar; six whole-wheat crackers; one apple
• 3 p.m.—One cup of raw vegetables and one-quarter cup of hummus dip
• 6 p.m.—Three ounces of grilled, skinless chicken breast; one cup of brown rice; 1.5 cups of steamed broccoli; one piece of fruit
• 8 p.m.—One piece of fruit or three cups of light microwave or air popped popcorn

Source: http://www.clevelandclinic.org/health/health-info/docs/2500/2589.asp?index=9788

I'm NOT looking for generic "eat high protein/high fiber/low calorie foods". I need specifics. I need a shopping list. Foods I can stick to exclusively and know that I'll be relatively safe until I get into the routine. I don't necessarily need the specific schedule as laid out above (though it would be awesome and very helpful if you have some daily plans like that!), but specific food choices would be great.

Thanks all!

I am not sure if filings need to be made with the FCC, but I am looking for information about specific programming shown on this channel during the March-June 2004 period. Specifically I am looking for the name of a show broadcast at that time, or IF a show was broadcast during that time.

I am not sure if the FCC would have a master list of these things, or if it is available anywhere else on line.

Thanks.

What have we lost forever?

What significant items have been irretrievably lost? Back in 1906 a fire in San Francisco caused by a huge earthquake destroyed the Levi Strauss headquarters and factories; taking along with it many original designs.

Last Fall the fires in North San Diego destroyed the house of Paul Kassel who owned Mickey Mantle's last baseball jersey.

Is there a list out there that has compiled items or collections lost forever? For example irreplaceable items lost in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001?

It's never the creepy janitor.

What horror films feature a mystery killer? I like watching cheesy horror movies because for me even the most poorly made ones are entertaining. My favorite ones are "slasher" films, where a crazed maniac kills off the rest of the cast one by one, usually with a knife. More specifically, I like slasher movies where the killer is a seemingly normal person who is later revealed to be the killer. Its fun to try to pick out the killer from the group, because there are always plenty of red herrings and missing details along the way to make it difficult.

I want to make a list of these kinds of films. They need to follow these two rules:

1. The killer's identity can't be revealed until near the end of the film. Usually this means that the killer wears a mask when he kills people, but sometimes the murders are shot from the killers point of view. If it turns out there are multiple killers, that is fine too, as long as they are all revealed near the end.

2. The normal person that turns out to be the killer must be at least a minor character in the film. If the character has never been on-screen or just made a cameo appearance as a pizza delivery boy at the beginning of the film, it doesn't count.

Here are the films I already have on the list:

Alice, Sweet Alice
Cherry Falls
Club Dread
Cry Wolf
Cutting Class
The Graveyard
Mindhunters
Psycho Beach Party
Scream 1, 2 and 3
Sleepaway Camp
Urban Legend and Urban Legends: Final Cut
Hook a nook to look at books!

Need suggestions for an online collaboration tool for managing a reading list between friends. A friend and I are starting a joint reading list for 2008. We're each picking a number of books across different genres and styles. We're trying to branch out, and we're hoping we can help motivate each other to read more. We'd like to discuss and review what we're reading as well.

This is an online (not local) friend, so we won't be meeting at coffeeshops, etc. So I'd like to figure out the best way to discuss and review our list online. I want to find a central place to go online for us to collaborate on our efforts and discuss them.

This is sort of open-ended, I'm just taking suggestions on how you'd do this. I know there is a nice LiveJournal group for readers (50bookchallenge), but I don't know that LJ is the best way to go about this. For that matter, his work firewall blocks LJ so he couldn't keep tabs during the day.

Ideas that would be nice to incorporate:
- Online calendar/schedule outlining what to read when
- Update total pages read
- Update total books read
- Comment on sections/chapters/books (discussion)
- Rate books

As of now it's just the two of us but there's a chance this could grow if a few more friends want to join up, so whatever solution we come up with needs to be somewhat flexible to allow for more users (an email chain, for example, is not optimal).

I have hosted webspace so adding some sort of CMS/hosted app is not out of the question, if it matters.

So yeah... with all the forums, blogs, CMS, and social networks out there, I figure there's gotta be something that will fill this niche. I'm open to any and all suggestions, not only to what type(s) of services to use but if you have any ideas about how to make this project even more fun.

An "Expert List" tool?

Can anyone recommend a simple web-based tool to compile and manage an "experts list?" So, if I wanted to keep a simple database with people's names, contact info, expertise (which would be categorized), and a few basic "notes" fields, and I wasn't a database programmer (but I am a heck of ascript installer), how would you recommend I do that?

Best case scenario: someone knows about a PHP-based script that I can install and modify on my own server.

I really appreciate the help.

How can I produce a text list of the contens of a folder in Windows XP

How can I copy a list of files in a folder on Windows XP, without using the print screen key/command? I have a window open in Explorer on XP. This window has a list of files and folders in it. I want to copy that of files and folders into Word.

Print Screen WILL NOT work, as that just produces graphic files and the list of files is longer than the screen.

I tried selecting all and right clicking and choosing print, but that just wants to print the actual files, not the list. Doing a copy and attempting past into Word produces nothing except this error:
"Windows cannot obtain the data for the '(folder name)' link"

Searching help or Google produces nothing except the Print Screen button, which again, Print Screen WILL NOT work, as that just produces graphic files and the list of files is longer than the screen.

Accelerating with Excel

I have a list of a few hundred people involved with the school I am at this year, and I need to break the names into First, Middle, and Last Name. Is there a way to make excel go through a list of names and at any point where there is a character break (a space like this---> ) put the rest of the cell one over to the right?

I need a specialized scrolling list

I need to create scrolling list, with something a bit extra. I need to create a scrolling list. It's for a list of about 300 servers, which we currently have in a drop-down menu, but is really hard to scroll through manually. So I need to change this drop down list to a scrollable list and add functionality to the list to enable me to type out the name of a server, then be taken to that server name in the list, a la what Windows Explorer does when you start typing a file or folder name. (i.e., I start typing a file name, and it takes me to the files that start with what I've typed so far, and then finally takes me to the file I want once I've typed enough or all of the filename.)

How can I do this? I'll take any suggestions, whether in html, java, or whatever. I'm an IT dork, but not a web designer by any stretch of the imagination, so explanations that are detailed will be appreciated.

Local geo-slang???

LISTS of neighborhoods, local landmarks and local slang names... an example of each in the Philadelphia area would be Chestnut Hill, Fairmount Park and Philly. Is there any place I can go to get a list of these items per state (or for the entire US)? Free is good, but I wouldn't be opposed to paying for it. If someone from Ohio was going to be going to Philadelphia for the weekend and they wanted to have some familiarity with local terms for areas of interest, where would they go?

I'm not just looking for info on major cities either... If the situation was reversed and I was heading to a small town in Ohio, where would I find the same info?

TIA!
