Linux netbook filter: So, I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive Linux netbook - mostly to websurf and do some light data-processing. I've looked around and the ZaReason, Inc. Teo Pro looks good for the price point. Do you agree? What upgrades seem worth the price?

Advice and encouragement, please, on jumping the rest of the way into Linux. Several specific issues inside, but the gist is that I got fed up with Windows and started dual-booting Ubuntu 10.10 on several machines. Now I think I'm ready to make Ubuntu my permanent all-the-time OS. What are considerations and best practices I should consider? What am I not thinking of?

My laptop (an Acer Travelmate) just gave up the ghost after 3 years and a replaced (but still dodgy) hard drive. Any suggestions for laptops that can handle plenty of travel and being bumped around in bags?

Is there some software out there that can turn my netbook into relatively passive display device for news, weather, email alerts, etc? And look good doing it?

probably-hopeless-filter: Where can I find an 8.9" netbook with a "real" HD (not solid-state) running linux in a store? I'm in Chapel Hill, willing to go to Raleigh, Durham, Hillsborough, Cary, Apex, wherever (Charlotte or Greensboro would be too far). I've checked all the obvious-to-me places.

I recently bought an MSI Wind u100 160G 3 Cell netbook, and am very happy with the little thing. I used to have a mac, am familiar with windows, but am considering going the LINUX route.
