Why doesn't Firefox open links that I click? I've noticed over the last several days that when I click on some links the status bar will start going through the motions to connect, but then it will stop dead (it actually says "Stopped" as if I had pushed the stop button before the page had a chance to load). Nothing really happens after that, its as if the click command was lost in transit.

Webbrowsing/Internet Explorer 6 Filter:
When reading a long webpage(usually several screen lengths), I often click on a link that's part way down. IE goes to that webpage in the same window(as it should). However, when I click back, I often find that I am at the top of the first page.
I'm pretty sure it always used to scroll down to where I was before I clicked on the link. Now it only does that sometimes. I know this is minor, but it bugs me sometimes. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I like Google Desktop but there is one minor annoyance that has been bugging me. Whenever I click on a link in a sidebar gadget, that link loads in IE7, even though my default browser is Firefox. Is there a solution to this? I'm on Windows Vista, if that helps (or hurts).

Dreamweaver question...
I want some of the links on a page to be one color, and the rest of the links be a different color. Setting the link colors in page properties makes ALL links the same color. Is there a way to make links of different colors? Maybe by over-riding the page properties in a specific section of the page? Or separating the page props some how?
thanks...

My wife's brother graduates from art school this weekend. The family chipped in and bought him a MacBook, his first new computer and first Mac. He's wicked talented and a natural tinkerer, but I get the sense he's not that computer-savvy. He's a printmaker, painter, and music freak, and his many talents skew to the analog.
I registered his name as a domain and I'm going to give it to him as a gift, and I wanted to give him a CD or something with some links and free software to get him started. What would you recommend for a dude like this?

I would like to automatically generate hypertext links from a list of text. Ideally this would mean pasting a series of comma separated words into some online tool and having the system turn each word into a relevant google/wikipedia link... Does anyone know any sites/tools that will do this? [more inside]

I'm setting up a little site that's like an encylopedia. I want the instant-linking that I've had in VooDoo pad (wiki)--when I type "Lincoln" it automatically links to the "Lincoln" page. But I don't need any other wiki features--this is not collaborative. Is there some way to just get that handy quick-link feature as I write my articles? Thanks, smarties!

I have been using reblog to combine two feeds (for a blog and a forum) which I then publish through Feedburner. What I want to do is have the blog part of my feed update normally (i.e. individual posts) and the forum part of my feed compiled into a daily link list (which itself is published as if it were ONE feed post each day)... Google syntax query. So: I want to be able to find all the links to Site X, while filtering out all internal links from within Site X. I use del.icio.us a LOT. I have over 500 links. I want to do some editing of all of my links. There are several links I'd like to delete, and it seems the only way I can do that is to open each one individuall, which is incredibly time consuming. Oftentimes, I want to add the same tag to several links in a certain category. In general, there are just several occasions where it would be very helpful to have some way to edit many links at once. Does anyone know of any utilies that make this easier (software, extensions, online sites that speed up the process, etc.)?

So, I manage a fairly high traffic website. But, there are a couple other websites that I'm involved with that I would like to link to off of my day job site for spidering reasons. If I just include these links on a couple of pages and hide them via comment tags, will the spider still go to them? Is this not up to search engine ethics? Are there search engine ethics? Thanks in advance.

Where do you share links that you like, but don't think deserve a front page post? Like while this looks interesting to me, I'm not sure it's techy/cool/best of the web enough to go up as a post. Yet the link doesn't fit the feel of my own blog, and I still want to share it. Anyone know of sites for links that aren't FPP, but still sort of neat? (Also, the spell check seems to be hanging, so I'm posting this hoping nothing is too wrong.)
