LinkedIn post snapshot

These updates to LinkedIn have been killing me. Have they completely removed the little box on the left on the Home tab that would include analytic info on any postings you made? (How many in your network saw the post, 2nd connections, 3rd+ connections?)

LinkedIn-profile input needed

Ok, so I would benefit from some sensible critique on my LinkedIn-profile. I'm new to the US workmarket and updated my profile according to the many (many) good advice that fills up my LinkedIn-feed. But I still feel as if I'm missing something. My upbringing makes it difficult for me to "toot my own horn", as they say. Please point out glaring mistakes, omissions and lost buzzwords! Another Linkedin Question - Do you connect with recruiters?

My personal policy when using Linkedin is to only connect with people who I have met personally, or have had somewhat detailed communication over phone or email. However, I fairly frequently receive requests from recruiters who I don't know despite having a fairly sparse profile. Should I connect with these people despite the fact that I am not looking for a change? What are the pros and cons of doing so? Thanks.

I want to be linked in, just not to this extent.

I merged my e-mail account with my LinkedIn profile a few weeks ago. Now emails from my personal show up in my conversations on LinkedIn. I would like to unmerge them, but I can't figure out how to this. I can't find directions on LinkedIn or through Google either. Please help!

How to look for a job efficiently in the internet age?

The last time I went job searching was through answering ads on Monster. Everything was fairly straightforward. I would send my resume, go on an interview, get an offer or not. Now the advice is to network, use LinkedIn, find a recruiter, and figure out how to optimize keywords to defeat bot filtering while registering online. I’ve tried this without any success. Is there a better way to beat the system? Someone break this down for me. What actually works? [more inside]

What's the Linkedin etiquette?

Asking for a friend... If you know who your interview panel is, is it a good idea or a bad idea to view their Linkedin profile while logged in? If you do this they will KNOW you're looking at their profile. Does this come across as: A) doing good research; or B) creepy stalking?

Recommendation for a LinkedIn marketing book/resource please

I'm looking for a good recommendation for LinkedIn marketing book or other specific resource. I know there's a ton of information out there but I'd rather find something that's a bit more structured. There's a few different options on Amazon, but when it comes to online marketing and social media marketing it's very difficult to trust reviews. The goal is to be able to help a small Mandarin school connect with potential ex-pat customers. Any suggestions?

Linking Social Networks

I have been combing the social networks I use trying to find a way to link two of them. It's not a big list; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Soundcloud, and Wordpress. I know about IFTTT and Hootsuite, but I'd prefer to not use third party apps if possible. Facebook and Twitter of course, connect to almost everything. But I'm also trying to figure out how stuff I upload to Soundcloud can be posted on LinkedIn. And likewise, I can't get LinkedIn posts to show up my Facebook business page. Is it just not possible w/o 3rd party apps that will make posts I don't need? If there is a way, can somebody tell me?

LinkedIn Endorsements - What is the deal?

Recently I have noticed some unsolicited endorsements appear in my LinkedIn. I do not think they are detailed written out recommendations, rather something like "Jim has endorsed seesom for [Skill or Industry]". I do not think they appear on my profile yet since I have not "approved" them. What is the ettiquette for these? Have they helped you at all? Should I return the favor for those who have endorsed me if I can genuinely recommend their work? At first glance, they don't appear to be very useful since it seems like it doesn't take much to endorse someone, but I would like to take advantage of LinkedIn to help keep in touch with people. Any experiences you have had would be helpful.

They will know what you look like now

In the US it's frowned-upon to attach a picture to your resume for a non-performance position. The reasoning is that companies would rather not know what you look like so they can't be accused of discrimination. How does this work when applying via LinkedIn? Does your picture get transmitted automatically or do they have to make a choice to view it?

LinkedIn Endorsements - Trim to the few "best" or show them all?

I've often called my career in architecture glorified itinerant work. The fact is that I need to go where the jobs are. So, despite having confidence in my position for the next six months to two years, I recently decided to start brushing up my public facing networking tools.
