So I got a letter the other day from a client of mine who said that I did not have permission to put up a link to their website from mine and that I must remove it. This seems rather silly to me, considering I built most of their website and they even won a web award for it. Can they legally force me to remove the link?

With Javascript, CSS or anything else, can I make different categories of link text on the same web page behave differently? Specifically, if I wanted to make a page listing some links I need to visit daily, some I need to visit weekly and some I need to visit monthly -- could I make each category of link text change from "visited" color back to "unvisited" color after the appropriate number of days? Or if this can't be done, how would you solve this need (in a visual way, rather than just "keep a list manually of when you visit each")?

Why won't my browser open from links embedded in programs? When I click on links to the web (e.g. "check for updates") in, say, Skype chat, or Zone Alarm, or CCleaner, or DeepBurner nothing happens -- no browser or tab pops open to the corresponding site. Firefox is my default browser and works fine on its own.... Thoughts or suggestions?

Hi, hoping some MS Excel or HTML wizards can help me out with this. The goal is as follows; format a list of domain names so I can publish them on a webpage with hyperlinks to their individual addresses (currently they are all in Excel with each domain occupying a single cell in a single row; they are currently formatted like this: "domain.com"). There are just to many to go through and add this to each one. [more inside]

Need help finding a www link. The page describes artist/group project where a group meet regularly and create a large collaborative drawing about current news & events. The page had images of some of the past drawings and description of the process and I think I found it via a blog post describing it as a visualisation.

Everyone knows the New York Times requires you to register to read articles. Occasionally, I see people link to the article as well as to some slimmed-down bandwidth version for PDAs or RSS feeds or something. How do I make a link like that? When I find a New York Times article URL on the web, is there somewhere I can copy and paste that into that'll show me the slimmed-down version?

Amazon question. I once read the Amazon Hacks book but I don't remember if it covers this one, or how to do it. I'd like to be able to link to specific items in my wishlist. I've found one trick but it relies on the item number. Since this number changes each time the wishlist is updated, any link made this way won't last long. SMI

Can anyone show me to a good place to check how many/which sites link to my site?

I tried using link:[mysite] on Google, but it doesn't seem very reliable. Some links of which I've known for months don't even appear, others that still exist disappear, etc.
