Too much starch is never a bad thing, right?

So I was bored and ate a whole lot of paper. What now? I was sitting in a university lecture, bored out of my mind and decided to entertain myself by eating the blank paper in front of me. This is not the first time I have done so - at many ages (5, 12, 18) I have entered into bets with friends that I could eat a whole page faster than they could (and usually lost). What will this do to my body?

Who will rock me?

There's a relatively recent(?) alt-rock song I've heard on the radio a couple of times in the last six months which sounds like I imagine Queen might sound if they were just starting out today. What/who is it? It's not Mika (though he does have a Mercury thing going on). This was definitely alt-rock, but with a slightly poppy operatic tone which, combined with the singer's falsetto, made it sound something like a punked-up redux of the Queen song Killer Queen.

I've heard it on Canadian radio, if that makes a difference. The answer may be obvious, but the only time I hear those stations is on patios or in people's cars.

Dealing with losing friends.

I'm being cut out by my "friends" and I need advice on how to feel less shitty about it. Its a juvenile question and chatfilter, but I'm in a bad headspace and I need some help. And I'm sorry for the length.

About 10 months ago a long term relationship ended. I dealt with it by going into therapy, addressing my substance abuse problems and retiring from the world for a bit. He dealt with it by hitting the party circuit, big time.

I've been making an effort to reconnect with people. We have the same social group, and while I completely understand that he doesn't want to see me, I'm finding it really hard to deal with the fact that if there is a social outing, he gets invited and I don't.

Whats sent me over the edge is a farewell party tonight for a couple that I thought I was quite close to. I wasn't even told it was going on, even though I saw the girl in question a week ago. A mutual friend let it slip that it was happening, and that I wasn't invited. I'm a bit shocked by how hurt I am.

My questions

1. Am I being completely unreasonable being so hurt by this? It seems dumb and highschool, but I'm so upset i can't sleep.

2. How do I address it. I don't want to cut these people cold, and I understand that they're in a difficult position.. However I don't feel like I can pretend like I don't know i'm being cut out, and I don't know if I want 'friends' who will do this shit without at least talking to me about it. So do I bring it up with them, or just move the fuck on and just write them off?

3. any advice for songs I can listen to or movies I can watch tonight while I'm alone to make myself feel a bit better?

Is there a big list (with general descriptions, optional) of jobs in the death industry? I'm coming up on year 6 of my job intended to be interim, and Dead Like Me has me somewhat inspired. I'd like something not involved with scalpels/fluids, but a list of mostly everything would be spiffy, regardless. And not this list.

Help me build my ADD fortress of solitude!

Screw doctors, I have diagnosed myself with adult attention deficit disorder. I can keep it in control by limiting my exposure to distracting stimuli, but occasionally I need a place to retreat. My two bedroom house is too small sometimes to escape the ambient household noises of the wife or toddler kid. The only time it is really a problem is when my wife wants to watch TV. (Only ER and Gilmore girls luckily). For some reason when that damn tv turns on, my senses are assaulted, I get distracted, can't concentrate, and I feel like a cornered animal that needs a place to escape to. Apparently I also become an unbearable ass and am easily upset. But its only when the ambient noise/activity/? surpasses a certain threshold.

Just going to another room of the house has not worked, so in last week's scheduled sensory assault, I started thinking about how when I was a kid, my dad, his dad, and his dad all had their "workshops" that they would occasionally disappear into. Unfortunately I neither have the talent nor the inclination to have a "workshop". There must be some way to construct my own special fortress of solitude that I can use as a haven in just these times.

So Mefites, I need your advice. Here are the major criteria / observations.
#1 Cost of this project can not exceed $500
#2 My car cant fit in my tiny garage, so that a possible space to use, but as I will be selling my house in under 5 years I do not want to modify it in any permanent way. I would like it to remain a usable garage.
#3 It gets cold in Kansas in the winter, and the garage is not heated.
#4 I have a HUGE backyard, so an outdoor structure is feasible I guess, but see above.
#5 Aesthetics are not priority, but I would like to create some ambiance.

My only real idea so far is to find/buy a big old freestanding heavy canvas tent (army surplus) and set it up INSIDE the garage. In the tent, I could string paper garden lanterns for light, and pull in a small electric space heater to keep me warm in winter. My best reasoning says that this would mask the illusion of just sitting in the garage, and that the double insulation of heavy canvas inside of the garage itself could be easy enough to stay moderately warm. A comfy old recliner, and several books, posters, and other creature comforts would complete the effect.

But before I tackle this project I want to see if any of you have good ideas. So, do you?

My phone smells worse than my armpit

Why does my cell phone smell like heinous body odor? ME: Clean person, showers regularly. Healthy. Fit.

My cell phone: A motorola razr with a nasty odor problem.

Seriously it smells bunk. I cleaned it with qtips and warm water, still smells. I don't even use it that much. The keypad smells the worst, like a an NYC cab whose driver hasn't showered in weeks. Like he's just been sitting in the cab sweating, dripping fast-food grease on his chest, like he has no idea what deodorant is and even if he did he would never use it.

I think the phone smells worse the longer its been on.

CostumeFilter: Scythe? No problem. Needing awesomest quality reaper cloak.

So I've been doing a watch-a-thon of Dead Like Me (theme) and would really like to get my hands on one of those reaper costumes, but all the ones I've found all look really cheap. Where can I find the uber-est quality reaper costume, notably with the little point in the back of the cloak's headpiece/mantle/whatever? Any liklihood of actually getting one of those pieces from the actual show's main titles?
alternative to stamps.com

Is there any online postage-printing site that doesn't require a monthly fee? I mail books periodically and I'm at least 15 miles from the post office. Thanks to the Unabomber I can't just slap stamps on a package and leave it for my carrier or it gets returned. Instead I have to go deal with our understaffed local postoffice. I've seen automatic postal kiosks, but not in our neighborhood. Stamps.com will work, as will any service that attaches an identifying number to the postage, the assumption being that people who mail deadly stuff would never think to hide their identity.
