What do you do with a screw that turns freely and won't unscrew? I'm trying to replace the brake light bulb on my Audi A4, but the screw that holds the brake light assembly in place turns and turns without unscrewing. I assume that the corresponding nut is loose, or that whatever it seats into is broken, but I'm stumped.

I just ran a red light in Brooklyn and was pulled over by police. I was given a ticket and the officer urged me to plead not guilty and to attend the scheduled court date and pay the citation otherwise I'd be hit with 6 points to my license. Why did the officer recommend pleading not guilty? And what should I expect in a Brookly TVB court?

We have motion-activated lights in our new office, and office plants that need light over the weekend. I'm looking for some kind of plug-in kinetic sculpture that we can have on a plant timer, that'll run (hopefully without being too annoying) during the day to keep the lights on.

I've got a lamp plugged into a wall switch controlled outlet. I'd like to be able to turn off the light at the switch and next to the lamp while somehow maintaining the ability to turn the light on from either spot regardless of how I turned the lamp off. (Degree of difficulty: I don't want a Clapper).

Help me find the right pair of minimalist shoes! I've been a member of a Crossfit gym for six months, which means I've been exposed to the peer pressure regarding
Vibram FiveFingers. Plus, I'm starting to travel a lot (and
lightly) and want a pair of running shoes that have a small footprint
(heh) when packed in a suitcase. Recommendations for this recreational runner? Are Vibrams a good option? Which model? How do I size them? I'm training for next October's Portland Marathon, if that makes a difference. Bonus points for shoes available at REI (though that's not a requirement).

The SRS light on my 2003 Honda Civic comes on when the ignition is turned on and remains on while the car is being driven. I googled this and understand that Hondas as well as other cars have this problem. I can take it to a mechanic to have it diagnosed and repaired. Or I can turn it off myself which I'm tempted to do since it appears that Honda has a faulty system that has nothing to do with the airbag --just the light. But there is a small part of me that wonders and is concerned if something could be wrong with the airbag. Does anyone have experience with this?

I have a candle and its brightness is exactly one candle power or candela. If I buy a 10,000 candle power torch/flashlight, does that mean it's 10,000 times brighter (and what does that mean) or that I can see it 10,000 times further away? Are these the same thing and why do they seem unbelievable?
