How can I use my MLIS and my language skills?

What are potential career options for an MLIS graduate interested in using language and translation skills on the job as well? I am a 21-year-old undergraduate student who will be graduating one quarter early in March 2011. This summer I'm applying to the UW's iSchool MLIS program and hope to start Autumn Quarter 2011. I am very interested in traditional library work, but in the last couple years I have worked hard to learn Spanish. I'm currently training to be a Spanish-English translator and interpreter as well, as this will help pay for my MLIS degree. I would really love a career that could incorporate my growing interests in linguistics and translation, as well as my interests in the research and service-oriented aspects of librarianship. Any suggestions? I know the State Department has some positions that would incorporate all these skills, and I'm looking for other options, too.

Library Finding A.M. Best's supplements in the public library

Cannot find periodicals in the library. I am trying to find two reports by A.M. Best: "Whole Life: With Dividend Histories" and "1997 Historical Supplement: 10- and 20-Year Whole Life Dividend Performance" as recommended in this LA Times article. Contrary to the article, my library does not appear to stock these. Are there any sources I am overlooking? [more inside]

Looking for old library featured on the CBC.

CBC Radio had a program on an old Quebec library (I think - in Montreal) - that dates from the 1800's and is supposed to be absolutely stunning. Something that people would envision being right out of Harry Potter. Unfortunately - I could not make out the name of the Library - and lot's of googling has come up with nothing. Does anyone here know if the Library in question?

Help me photograph books (light, angles) and do it without destroying library books.

I have a bookshelf covered (on the front) with a flat surface). I would like to cover this flat surface with photographs of the bookshelf (minus the cover) with books in it. I'm hoping for a trompe l'oiel type effect so it looks like a bookshelf with books. Three questions: 1. How do I work out the angles/math etc. of the photographs 2. What light should I take the pictures in? 3. Is it ok (and how to) take the call numbers off of library books and replace them before returning the books? [more inside]
