Explain Ebay to me like I'm six years old. I need to sell some expensive lenses and a camera. How do I sell something without being taken to the cleaners by scammers?

Why are microscope lenses small and camera lenses large? Surely having large lenses on microscopes would let you gather more light from the thing you're trying to examine and give you a clearer picture.

Sigma 18-125mm f/3.8-5.6 AF DC OS HSM vs. Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, besides the obvious zoom range differences is the Canon
really worth twice the Sigma? I've checked a number of reviews and it doesn't look like the Canon's advantage is as clear cut as the price would suggest.

What's your favorite Nikon-compatible macro lens? I'm completely new to macro photography (and still pretty new to photography in general, having purchased my first DSLR a little over a year ago), and I'm leaning towards the Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF, largely because of the price differential between this and some of the other Nikkor macros. Anyone have any great experience with some of the makeshift macro lenses (using extension tubes, reversing rings, etc)?

I'm interested in fitting odd lenses -- and making custom lenses -- to/for digital cameras and digital video cameras. I'm not terribly concerned with the electronic side of things, so you shouldn't be either. What I'm looking for is a crass/crash course in optics -- something (a book, a video, a class, a kit) that will teach me the basics of optics and allow me to force photocopier lenses, telescopes, and microscopes onto unsuspecting recording devices.
