Legal hypothesis (from a recent episode of Flashpoint): What are you responsible for in the eyes of the court (US) if you commit a crime (let's say robbery) under duress (threat of death)? Does that change if you commit murder? Does that change if its not you being threatened, but your kidnapped daughter?

Supplier wants my company to sell a 'combined product' at a specific price in order for my company to get his best price.
In the relationship, his company would be a supplier to me, and I would sell to the end user. There's a potential recurring revenue stream on the other end of this deal that could be big for the supplier.

A large group of friends recently lost nearly everything they owned in a
devastating apartment fire last month. Since then, the building - and their lives - have sat in limbo while looters have been free to ransack the building at their leisure. What options, legal and otherwise, do my friends have to hold somebody accountable for this gross mismanagement?

Is it legal for employers (specifically schools and government employees) to require race and ethnicity to be reported?
It was my understanding that providing such information was always voluntary, but a friend who works for a high school just told me he was required to provide the information, and that if he didn't self report it, the school was required to report it based on what other employees thought.
Is that legal? When did it become legal to require information that was previously required to be voluntary only?

Is there a clear outline anywhere of the legal obligations of marriage? I haven't been able to find anything online. This can be either for New York state or the US in general. I would like to know what I am legally agreeing to before getting wrapped up in the romantic decision. I am not looking for the legal benefits of marriage, or for divorce law: I want to know what legal contract I'd be signing before I start the whole process. I'd prefer resources as opposed to anecdotal advice. Thank you.
