I've had a pre-order with a major UK online retailer for a limited run collectable ornament for a couple of months now, but the 'Due for release' date has been pushed back three times now, allegedly down to manufacturer delivery issues. That wouldn't normally be a problem... but the same online retailer has exactly the same item (and it's only made by one manufacturer) listed again elsewhere as 'In Stock' - but at more than a 50% markup (£130 as opposed to the pre-order price of £80). Are they doing anything legally wrong here (in UK law), as opposed to just deeply immoral?
YANAL, but... A young friend of mine got a job with a service company that does substantial business with his (then) current employer. His current employer found out and called the employer-to-be and told them that, if they go through with the hiring, they'll discontinue doing business with the employer-to-be. In short order, the employer-to-be rescinded the job offer and the current employer terminated him. [more inside]

How can I find out whether or not my mortgage company is ripping me off? I thought about something like a "forensic audit" but I see via Google that that is the hot new scam, and I don't want to be taken for a ride (twice). I am not looking to modify my loan or get out of my mortgage, I just want to make sure that my payments (for which I pretty much always pay extra) are being applied correctly. [more inside]

Please help me understand this court case (if it is one). I have made some attempts to try and find help with the California court noted here but I've been told "that's not us" and am a little embarrassed with my attempts to chase this down. I've also emailed the attorneys and other people involved but they are not responding perhaps due to the controversial nature of the case. [more inside]

I need to find out the results, if any, of a pair of cases filed in the UK High Court of Justice, Queens Division, in 2004. I can provide details if you message me. Thanks.

Legality of building a software application to access and write to a database which is created and distributed by a third party?
Let me explain. Let's says company A sells to company B a system that includes an Microsoft Access database in order to run. Is it legal for company C to make a system that connects and writes to to company A's database without asking for company A's permission? I assume that since it's just a regular Access database, that anyone can read, it shouldn't be a problem right?
Just gave a Powerpoint presentation (for free) at a non-profit organization and liberally sampled from Google Images to fill out the slides. Afterwards, several of the attendees heaped glowing praise about the talk upon me, with a subset of them almost literally begging me to sell them the talk so they could give the talk to groups of folks they deal with. I don't want to give them my hard work for free. What must I now do to monetize this opportunity legally without getting into trouble having glommed numerous copyrighted images? For what it's worth, the talk had a nutritional bent and had images of commercial stock images of food item such as Kellogg's Frosted Flakes, Crisco, etc... Does this fall under Fair Use?
News and debt filter: Can somebody tell me why it was necessary to have a fundraiser to pay US medical bills for a deceased person? Does such data even exist? I'm only asking out of curiosity, not for any professional or education project.

Is it legal to charge people to use my home theater (rent it out)? I have a home theater. It's pretty friggin' sweet if I do say so myself - gazillion inch screen, state of the art surround system, 12 theater seats, etc. I built it myself. I know that movies always have those warnings at the beginning but I am not charging people to see a specific movie, I am just charging them for use of the room for a specified period of time.
