Instead of arresting you, how about some pepper spray?

I'm having an online discussion (which I am trying to keep civil) with a group of people who claim that the police in California have the right to pepper spray anyone who does not obey a police order. How in the world can this be true? I'm not a lawyer - but my gut tells me that there has to be case law to the contrary. Help me out!

How do I become a legal guardian in New Jersey?

How do I petition the court to become my little brother's legal guardian in New Jersey? A little background: My mother has a terminal disease, which may also cause her to be mentally incapacitated at some point (thanks in advance for the condolences). My little brother is 15 and lives at home with my mom. My mom has made it clear to myself and people around her that she wants me to become his guardian after she dies. Fire my attorney first?

I have an attorney. My attorney has made me unhappy in several ways, mostly by procrastination. However, I am afraid that another attorney will not take the case because it's too small. (In the tens of thousands of dollars.) Is it legal for me to ask another attorney if he will take my case before I fire my current attorney? Or must I fire my attorney and take my chances with another attorney not accepting my case? (Attorney #1 took my case primarily because I already knew him.)

What's the best solution to this car drama that may involve a tampered odometer?

I have a friend that is having some trouble with a car he purchased and he's trying to figure out what could be the best outcome in this situation. Basically, it looks like his odometer may have been tampered with and has been making far more repairs to this car than seems reasonable. He contacted the AG and they're willing to take the case but he's not sure if that's best. I don't have all of the finer details, but the gist of it is inside. He said there were other smaller repairs, but these are the main ones. Also, I'm trying to keep it a little vague just for anonymity's sake, but I can provide details if necessary. [more inside]
