My cherished leather Coach bag somehow got disgusting, mysterious, silvery-black grease all over the handle. What can I do to clean it safely? I'm looking for people with experience with this type of thing; Google just turns up a bunch of scary results that I'm afraid will ruin my bag.

I have a great pair of Fluevog leather boots lined with leather on the inside. The leather lining has worn through inside one heel cup and is starting to rip more and more every time I wear them. Is it possible to get this fixed at a reasonable cost? Anyone know a shoe repairer in NYC who would do a good job? I want to save my boots! Thanks!

What is this kind of hat called, and what was the "look" that went with it called? Sort of a leather version of a Greek fisherman's cap, sort of reminiscent of SS uniforms. I can remember seeing them worn in the 1970s and 1980s by gay leathermen, gay and straight people at punk shows in Europe, maybe some bikers, too.

Why are leather seats considered a luxury item in cars and sometimes part of first class service on trains and planes? Is it a holdover from earlier times? Just a question that popped into my mind as I recycled a floyer from Amtrak detailing the new First Class Acela service.

FashionFilter: Where can I buy an imitation leather men's jacket that doesn't look stupid? Do such things exist? I like leather a lot from the appearance standpoint, but while I eat meat, I don't see the consumption of leather or fur as particularly wholesome. Whenever I've tried Googling such things, the only jackets I ever find are bomber jackets, which are not my style -- I'd prefer something cleaner and more modern. Internet sites are fine, but serious bonus points for actual stores in New York City. And how much can I reasonably expect to pay for such a thing?

I have had an expensive leather couch for about 7 years with removable overstuffed cushions. One of the cushions was probably not pulled tight enough when originally sewed and has a deep crease. I know I can replace the pillow/stuffing insert to plump it up, but I can not figure out how to get the deep , seemingly permanent crease out given that leather cannot be ironed. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.

That's it. I've had it. My delicate ballerina ankles get sprained if I step on a piece of string the wrong way. I just sprained the right one again today and enough is enough. I'm going to try to put a plan into action that I thought about a couple years ago. I want to get an ankle brace, maybe even custom-made, that I can wear regularly to prevent this from happening so much.
