My current crop of desktop wallpapers are too distracting. Crashing waves, sunsets, streaking meteors, and galactic vistas sure look nice, but they make my eyes stray from the work in front me. I want to find hi-res, high quality shots of fabric, quilted leather, wood and other materials to "upholster" my digital desktop and make it look luxe. Help!

So its about time to get a new leather jacket. I'm male and looking for either a "car coat" or "walking coat" style and I need it in ~2XLT. I can't find anything good at Burlington, Zappos, or Wilsons.
Anyone have a good idea where else to hunt something like this up online? I don't necessarily need to purchase it online, but at least hunt for a jacket whose look I like.

I am looking to replace my beloved leather coat, which was stolen last spring. So now it's fall, and the stores are full of coats, but I've found that nothing even remotely comparable seems to be in style at the moment. Am I missing the secret source for classic, fashionable, longer-length leather coats? Do I need a fashion lesson and some nudging?

Back in the day, I had a black leather motorcycle jacket painted up in the usual punk style: Big back patch, studs, spikes, chains, the works. I'm older now, and I'd like to keep the jacket while getting rid of the youthful excess that covers it.
How do I rehabilitate my old leather jacket?

I bought myself a leather jacket in the
biker style. The jacket length is perhaps an inch or so too long. The jacket is made from thick and still somewhat creaky leather. What can I do to alter it? Would you advise me to attempt it myself?

I just bought a pair of amazing leather boots. They were the last pair. I'm not returning them. However, they're knee-high and the left one is a little too tight on my calf. I can still wear them, but I'm looking for advice as to how to stretch them, just a little, to make them more comfortable in the short term. I imagine that they'll naturally stretch a bit over time, but I'm hoping for a quicker fix. Anyone?

I've seen a couple people recently with very nice fairly stiff leather journal covers, maybe a little smaller than 8 1/2 by 11, that hold a smaller replaceable floppy journal inside. I want one. I've looked around some, but all I can find are the cheap mass-produced ones. Does the hive mind have a lead on where to get a good-quality leather cover online or in the SF bay area?

I am attending film school where I am putting together the proposal for an ambitious film that takes place in the Roman era, in tent interiors. Now, the Romans used leather for tents, however I'd like to use a cheaper alternative, such as brown canvas. Should I use canvas?
Where can I get largish quantities of canvas/tent making material?
(Some source specific to Vancouver would be very helpful!)

I'd like to buy some leather that's suitable for tooling in NYC. I'm looking for vegetable tanned leather at least 3 or 4 mm in thickness and at least 2 square feet in area. I'd also like to look at it before buying it, so internet-based retailers aren't what I'm looking for.

I need some handbag care advice for my girlfriend. She has a golden-tan leather Furla bag that is starting to get a little dried out. We're not in a big city, so going to a professional probably isn't an option. What can she do to treat the leather so it stays looking like new? Specific brand names of products we can order are preferable.

What is your favorite slim, classy-looking wallet for men? I'm looking for a wallet that looks professional (maybe black or brown leather), and is also very compact. I've looked at the Slimmy but it seems almost
too compact, and I'd be worried everything would fall out. Are there any wonders of wallet engineering out there that allow for a reasonable amount of cards and cash without creating a three-inch brick?

Where can a leather jacket be repaired near White Plains, NY? My son's new jacket brushed against a metal fence and has a clean slice in the sleeve. 2 tailors want to glue and stitch it, but I'm afraid it will look as if the jacket has a scar. Any suggestions?

For nearly a decade now, I've avoided all leather goods for ethical and aesthetic reasons. But I'm at a point where I'm sick of wearing canvas athletic shoes and imitation leather dress shoes (which are often ill fitting and, frankly, silly looking), and am looking to have my guilt assuaged so I can return to wearing leather.
