A new cordovan-leather wallet has a number of small pock-marks on the finished surface. They are a bit grayish on the brown leather and look like they appeared after tanning. The vendor says it's a normal part of the cordovan tanning process. Is that true? Will they go away as the leather ages? [more inside]

I've just bought some dubbin to condition my boots and it occurred to me that I'm just about to move from the tropics to much cooler, drizzlier climes. Should I also condition my leather jacket with dubbin, and if so, how often?

My wife has this leather painting/art kind of thing which was made by taking a hide of leather and cutting out patterns in it. I think it was then painted a bit. It was made in Thailand originally. The problem is that it got stored somewhere damp and the bottom bit has shrunk, so now it is not rectangular but more rhombussy shaped. (Not a lot, but noticeably).
Is this repairable? I mean, leather stretches right? If so, where would you go to get it fixed? I don't even know what sort of craftsman to ask.

I'm looking for a dark, well made, quality leather wrist cuff/bracelet that's about an inch thick with a snap closure. The internet seems flooded with crappy cuffs with lots of junk stuck on them. Can you recommend a shop/person? I lean more towards something that looks vintage/distressed rather than new, stiff, and polished. This is for a man, but think more unisex.

I'm 19, and I want to buy a leather jacket to last me the rest of my life. Any suggestions as to brands, styles, or where to get one? Ideally I could wear it all my life, wear it in like a good pair of boots, and possibly hand it down to my son, or at least my 10-year-younger brother when it became his time.

Is wearing fur actually any worse than wearing leather? There's a much stronger taboo against wearing fur, but I can't think of any reasons why it's worse than leather.

I have several watches that I wear that all have leather watch straps. With a couple of the watches, my ideal placement for the hole in the strap is actually in between two current holes. What is the best method to create a hole big enough to use? I have tried a sharp turkey skewer to poke a hole in it, and while it pierced the leather, it didn't leave a hole large enough to easily go through every time.
I have thought about a leather punch (which i guess is used for belts?) but that would be way too large. Suggestions?

I'm turning a small vintage samsonite leather suitcase into a baby travel kit that will stay in my sister's truck.
I know how to get the lingering smells out, and how to replace the liner. I also figured out how to clean leather. But what type of paint is best to use on leather?
I want to add some decorative elements with a baby theme to the outside and I'm not sure if acrylics are okay.

What's going wrong with my 10-year old sheepskin? ok, actually it's an angora goat skin, but it's the same concept. The main body of it is okay, but the sueded leather is really stiff and fragile at the edges/corners/legs, and pieces keep cracking and falling off, though not yet to the point of crumbling. What's causing this? Can I fix it? [more inside]
