Traveling to Oaxaca with a friend for a 2-4 week Spanish immersion program this June/July. We are looking for some advice about Spanish language programs, homestays/lodging, and transportation. Please help me find downloadable spanish language radio in the style of BBC Radio 4. I'm learning spanish and, while I'm doing my best in talking to native speakers, watching local TV and listening to local radio (I'm in Buenos Aires :), I can't find anything that is similar to the non-news, non-sport, non-call-in talk radio that I like on Radio 4, Plays, books of the week and so on (that I can listen to over and over while I'm on the bus, rewind etc). I haven't found too many podcasts that do it for me either but then, I'm not the hive mind. Any suggestions?

I minored in Spanish in college about 10 years ago, but remember very little of it. Just went to Tijuana to and had the opportunity to be immersed in the language and culture for 5 days. A lot of it came back and I was able to communicate .. now I have a huge desire to be bilingual. I'm back in Tennessee now ( where I live ) and won't be able to go back to Mexico for awhile. Whats the best way to learn to speak fluent Spanish in Tennessee? More classes? Books? Tapes ? I don't have any Spanish-speaking friends.. any ideas ? Is it even possible ?

How are Spanish and Portuguese different when it comes to grammar?

I speak Spanish fluently and now want to to take up Brazilian Portuguese. From hearing my Brazilian friends speak, and generally understanding them pretty well, I figured that Spanish and Portuguese grammar (syntax) must be very similar, the only differences between the languages being vocabulary and pronunciation. How right am I? If there are syntactic differences, what are they?

Would any speakers of these languages care to comment?
