Has anyone had success in removing permanent marker from an LCD monitor? My 2 year old got hold of a purple Vivid marker, and drew on the computer screen. I usually wipe the screen with a dry microfiber cloth, but it's not working on the dried marker.

Today my laptop's backlight stopped working. The screen is visible, but very dim. I can't repair it immediately (if it's even worth it). Does anyone have any tips for lighting the screen to make it more visible? Shining a penlight didn't seem to help much, because the screen is so reflective. [more inside]

Is it worth upgrading to a 22" or 24" widescreen LCD if I'll be hooking it up with VGA rather than DVI? I know DVI is better, but is VGA that bad?

So I was taking a walk this morning with my camera bag. My camera bag decided it wanted to experience it some freedom and slipped off my shoulder. In the process, my Canon 10D had a meeting with the sidewalk. I now have a busted LCD screen; this makes me sad and unable to operate half the camera. Does anyone have any repair options for broken LCD screen on a Canon 10D in Houston, TX?

I've just bought a Sony Bravia 40" LCD TV. I'm interested in what others here think are the optimal settings for viewing HDTV? And, while we're at it, for watching DVDs, as I'm sure that HDTV would benefit from different settings than DVDs would. I think I have the settings pretty much as good as I can get them, and I recognise that different settings suit different people, but I would be interested in what other Bravia owners think are the best settings for optimising their picture quality.
