I have more tools than I can store in my apartment. I have a storage unit in the basement (1 floor down) where I will keep most everything, but I'd like to keep a basic set of tools in my apartment so that I can fix minor things that pop up. What should I keep in my tool drawer? [more inside]
I'm worried about my 24 year old son slipping back into a rut and it's led to me badgering him and being tough on him, for his own good I feel. However I do wonder if I'm being too hard. [more inside]
I'm a lazy cook so instead of going out and buying all of the suggested spices for this butter chicken recipe, would it still taste good to use Penzey's chili powder and smoked paprika?
I live 6 long blocks (steep downhill there, steep uphill back) from the laundromat. It's such a hassle for me to get clothes there that I frequently put off doing laundry for a very long time. What am I missing? The solutions I've tried (and haven't tried) inside. [more inside]

I live in Seattle. I have about 250 sq feet of boulevard in front of my new house that is kind of a mess. It's grassed, but it's rutted and uneven and there's a 2" wide by 6" deep trench between the turf and the concrete boundaries of the boulevard, so it's very difficult to mow cleanly. There are two trees planted in it -- I don't know what species -- and the mounds they're planted in contribute to the unevenness. [more inside]
What is the best thing that I can do for my vegetable garden plots if I don't want to do any gardening this year? [more inside]
A bunch of Go You! things have happened in my friends'/relative's lives: engagements, babies, etc and I'd like to send them each a little something. But I suck at mailing things (seriously, I was meant to return something to Amazon and just had to eat the cost b/c I failed to get it in the mail in time) Thus I'd like to internet-send them something maybe $10. Something general and nice--the object equivalent of a card. I would just send them a card but I'd never mail it. Thoughts?
I am trying to find examples (essays, articles, etc.) of previous generations complaining about the work ethic of the younger generation. It doesn't matter how far back it i
My cousin is an early-thirties chronic sloth. Although he does go out on occasion and he walks from time to time, to say that he is not an exercise person is the understatement of the year. Any ideas on how to get him started on an exercise regiment that doesn't involve people or mornings and is relatively easy to do? [more inside]
I need to jumpstart my fitness which is currently non-existent. Would a FitBit help me (& the SO) be less lazy and more motivated? Did you use a fitbit or similar device to help you get on a fitness track? Or did you use another method?
You often hear people say things like "When in Rome" or "Great Minds" when people are generally meaning, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." or "Great minds think alike." Is there an actual literary term for these clipped or shortened idioms?

My small business needs an independent 3rd party to keep a weather eye on us and ensure we stop slacking. Where should I go looking to find someone experienced who could give us 2 hours of their time every month for next-to-do nothing? [more inside]
I'm generally a very, very messy girl. It's really cramping on my style and how I feel about myself. I feel pretty close to the people on Hoarders when I really let myself go (which happens when my mother doesn't get on my case every week)... I just simply have no energy or motivation to cleaning my room. My poor mother has no idea why I am the way I am. I also do NOTHING over the weekend. If I'm at home for a break, I have an insanely hard time getting anything done, doing ANYTHING productive. I do EVERYTHING last minute. It's insane, stressful, horrid. I have a hard time following through on anything important, any big projects on a long-term basis. While I have some successes (doing decently at school, have cultivated some cool hobbies, have had some great experiences, have learned a lot, etc) I think I'm reaching about 30% of my potential. I have some sneaking suspicions why I'm this way, but how do I change this? [more inside]

My husband of 30 years has been increasingly getting to be a total slob. He lays papers, clothes, anything on every horizontal surface! Our house is not small, he has one of our kids' old bedrooms as his office, and it is packed. Yet still he comes home everyday and lays all his 'stuff' on the kitchen table, his clothes on the only chair in our bedroom...I am so frustrated! When he's gone I often go through his 'stuff', tossing what I don't think is needed...but if he finds out he flips! I have set aside time to go through things with him, but he always finds an excuse not to follow through. He is good about doing other household chores, putting dishes and laundry away... I have gotten rid of extra tables and other things he could clutter up, but it absolutely does not help. I need your help before I go bonky. Thanks!
I'm an intelligent 20 year old University student with good-ish grades and overall, I get all the important stuff done. However, I have such frequent periods of lazy and unmotivated lack of productivity that I feel tremendous guilt for on a daily basis--Should I feel guilty? Is this common / normal? [more inside]

Is there an add-on for Internet Explorer or Firefox that would allow me to write text on top of the website and then print the site with the text? I have to search records in an online database and then after printing make notations on them; it'd be very handy if I could type the notations straight from the browser.

I've been diagnosed as ADD/ADHD by 3 separate professionals through my life and on medication to treat it for nearly a year. The meds don't work, and I've been on a lot of them (i.e. Ritalin, Vyvanse, Strattera and now Adderall.) How can I give myself a swift kick in the butt to become a productive, organized individual? I am mentoring a college kid who wants to be a programmer. I am detail-oriented; he does the bare minimum required to get the job done, but he gets things done. Am I right to push him toward thinking about doing project management rather than hands-dirty techie-developer type stuff? Or is he just lazy and needing to be schooled? [more inside]
