I sold my car to a Nissan dealership last Monday, November 10 for $22,000. At the time I owed $15,276.47 to Nissan Finance. I checked my account there today and now I owe $15,284.80, so the loan is still not paid off and it's still accumulating interest. Also, it's been five days and I haven't gotten a check for the $6,723.53 remaining after the loan payoff. [more inside]
I'm researching Teach for America as an organization, and I was wondering if there are any lawsuits against them by former corps members currently in the works.
I'm trying to get to the bottom of something that happened over the weekend -- to nutshell, was cuffed and placed in a holding cell and charged with an OWI. Never been in trouble before. Looking for a lawyer, but seem to either be told that they have fees that I could never afford to pay, or that they can get me into a diversion program which I'm pretty sure is offered to first time offenders anyway. Help? Details behind cut. [more inside]
Hi all, When I was 10, I took stomach drug called Propulcid, which gave me permanent Epilepsy. I am now 26 and want to sue the makers, but the statute of limitations in Maryland ended at age 21 (I'm 26 now). I want to sue, but given these limitations, no contingency-based lawyer will take my case. What can I do? Thanks!
I just left law after 18 years as a sole practitioner. I am burned out. I'm not very money oriented, more into helping people and socializing. I like work that has a beginning and end. I've never been a good employee. I thought that I would like to become a high school social science teacher and I now have a license to teach. I'm a 54 yo female. [more inside]
Yesterday, my partner slipped and fell while dropping our kid off at preschool. Every possible option about how to handle this makes me uneasy. You're not my lawyer, but that's okay, because my question is not if I can call I lawyer (or let my insurance company do the same), but whether I want to do that... [more inside]
I'm a solo practitioner and that means I have lots of marketers telling me I need their services. As in, dozens of emails a day, between five and ten calls a week. The sad part is I know I need to step up my marketing, but everyone who contacts just reeks of "scam". I am interested in finding was to get educated about this which don't trigger my scam alert instincts. [more inside]

A motor vehicle accident occurs in which one driver makes a left turn while another car is in the intersection, not giving the other car enough time to stop. The left-turn maker is cited at the scene and apologizes. His insurance company offers a certain amount as a settlement, minus 25% (~$1,000) for "comparable negligence", meaning the not-left-turn-maker was 25% responsible. Is it worth it to get a lawyer to argue/negotiate on the basis that 25% is a unfairly high determination of responsibility? [more inside]

Legal ethics filter: I work in the computer lab at a public library in the midwest. A patron comes in semi-regularly and shows me his Florida State Bar ID as proof of identity. He is almost always doing work with legal documents, and often has clients with him. The Florida State Bar says that he has been a member for about six months, but he's ineligible to practice law in the state of Florida. Am I under any obligation to contact the Florida State Bar (or some other regulatory association), since I'm not in Florida?
